Sarah Palin hunts feral hogs. World ends.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is filming the next season of the show Amazing America with the most recent episode taking place in Texas. It involved a hunt for feral hogs, with Palin bagging a rather large one. Of course, this was pretty much the end of civilization as we know it.

While taping her reality show in Texas, Sarah Palin proudly announced her killing of a feral hog and happily posed with the dead animal.

She ended up posting the picture online, and it was ultimately met with both praise and criticism…

Upon killing the animal, Palin took to Facebook to do some boasting about the creature she just slaughtered.

“Everything’s bigger in Texas!” the reality star and former politician wrote alongside a photo of her and the dead hog.

Speaking as someone who has slaughtered more than a few of God’s creatures in his time and discovered a variety of techniques for making them delicious, I understand that there are people who are opposed to hunting. I’ve heard the complaints. Why do you have to shoot Bambi? Well, it’s because Bambi is pretty delicious, but that’s a story for another day.

Palin was hunting feral hogs. So for the critics out there who largely consider themselves to be the party of science, might you consider taking the word of the Smithsonian?

Wild hogs are among the most destructive invasive species in the United States today. Two million to six million of the animals are wreaking havoc in at least 39 states and four Canadian provinces; half are in Texas, where they do some $400 million in damages annually. They tear up recreational areas, occasionally even terrorizing tourists in state and national parks, and squeeze out other wildlife.

Texas allows hunters to kill wild hogs year-round without limits or capture them alive to take to slaughterhouses to be processed and sold to restaurants as exotic meat. Thousands more are shot from helicopters. The goal is not eradication, which few believe possible, but control.

While I’ve not done it personally, I’ve heard plenty of accounts which say that feral hogs are difficult to cook in a way that produces the bacon, chops and BBQ that you’re used to, but it can be done. Some programs allow hunters to donate them to feed the homeless. That’s really not the point here, though. Even if you are opposed to hunting in general, feral hogs are a menace. Once they got out into the wild and bred with native boar, they quickly became one of the most successful species in North America. They breed prodigiously and have few natural predators. They tear up the landscape and can be incredibly aggressive.

Sarah Palin will unfortunately not be able to make a dent in the hog population in Texas even if she stayed for the entire year with an unlimited supply of ammo. Spare us the sanctimonious sighs and comments about the cruelty of slaughtering God’s creatures. She’s doing everyone a very small favor and somebody will probably get a meal out of the deal.

The irony of the Spielberg photo is that he is one responsible for helping movie-goers to visualize something that no longer exists.

Although I don’t think “PenelopeRayzor Bachand” was sincere in her post, I know lots of folks would believe it is all true.

Her dad received an e-mail regarding their hunting on the previous series. They were told that “they should get their meat at the grocery store where it is made!”

Liberals are unthinking morons.

Talk about a twofer. Killing feral hogs is a national service. It’s a species out of control, and its spreading north and west.

I remember when that Spielberg photo came out and it could be that PenelopeRayzor Bachand was one of the jokers who went along with the joke, but it could also be that she is one of those loons who believes all the deer crossing signs should be moved away from the roads so the deers won’t cross there. Stupid is as stupid does.

We need a much more aggressive hunting season for both wild boar and deer--both are causing a LOT of ecological damage to certain parts of the USA. A major culling of deer and wild boar would certainly help in reforestation efforts.

As long as it was processed and put into someone’s freezer, I have no problem with it.

Let them tear up a subdivision of 1%ers’ manicured lawns and see how fast they call for total extermination.

Gotta give Palin some credit- she is a master self promoter.

She uses her Facebook page to promote her reality show and to promote her daughters blog which is promoting her and her reality show.

She she needs to watch out here as she is in danger of locking computers into a circular infinite self promotion loop that could end the world as we know it .

Nice shooting though and she does have great taste in rifles :-)

Lived in Texas for 7 years. Had wild pig on a number of occasions. Gotta make sure you cook it thoroughly, but other than that it tastes just like farm raised pig.

They get too big, and they start tasting like everything they’ve ever eaten... The one Sarah shot is about perfect size to still qualify as “good eats”.

Now and then I still get the question, “Why do people who live in the country think they need guns?” and when I answer, “Because there’s stuff out here that will eat you,” they look at me like I”m stupid. These are people who fantasize that they’re In Tune With Nature. In other words, food.

Feral hog is seriously tasty...

Actually the bigger they get, not so much. The big males get pretty rank. Anything over about 110 pounds really IMHO is best for sausage.

Didn’t read the article to see if she used dogs. We use dogs and knives, when they don’t cross a river and get away or drown. Getting a shot at a stationary hog in the daytime at least in S Ga can be pretty tough. Except the ones that get fat off of rural gardens (see Hogzilla). I have seen people walk right up to a hog in a garden and shoot it dead with a handgun round in the ear. With a .380 no less.

You can bet many of the wimp libs whining about Palin shooting destructive, feral hogs probably have plenty of varmint traps in and around their residences. Just some squishy, pajama-wearing libs frightened of anything stronger than a rubber band being dismissive of someone who has a lot more guts than they’ll ever have.
