To: Star Traveler

I live in a suburb of Tulsa. We have mostly Quick Trip and Kum and Go stations. (The other stations are no ethanol gas.) They set their prices according to what the other has posted. Literally. The owner of our Kum and Go stations drives by the Quick Trips to see what he’s going to charge each day. Collusion of a different sort.

There’s no use in stations competing against QuikTrip in the Tulsa area. QuikTrip is virtually located every mile you drive in Tulsa, no matter which way you go!

There’s no collusion ... it’s just a recognition of the fact they can’t compete against QuikTrip.

I did notice a Shell station on 11th that had theirs for $1.99 for the last three or four days, and I guess QuikTrip had enough of that Shell station and they set all their stations at $1.99 today. The price drop of 17¢ in just a few hours is the biggest on-time price drop I’ve ever seen from QuikTrip.
