After Dunder Mifflin went belly-up it was all downhill.
It’s been tough times ever since Dunder-Mifflin closed.
It is also the home of the judge and prison contractors convicted in the cash for kids scandal; juveniles were being sent to lock-up on penny ante charges like skipping school to the lock-up facility could keep it full and bill the county.
Guess which party overwhelmingly dominates local politics.
Bring back the Spaulding Krullers and Butterscotch Krimpets to Scranton and problem solved! LOL!
The retired cops & the retired firemen will move to the Sunny South, out of the reach of the Scranton taxing authorities. LOL! :)
Did they go long oil? LOL! :)
They went long on “slick”: )
Once they are bankrupt, Slow Joe will say he is from somewhere else.
Pensions need to be fully self-funded
Too true; the costs of government workers (not just their current salaries, but their benefits and future pensions/benefits) have ruined NJ.
Anyone thinking of buying a home or opening a business here should be presented with an IOU they have to sign (for full disclosure); those government workers are an albatross around the necks of future generations for perpetuity.
I understand the position of retirees, and the promises made to them, but in the end what can one expect when so many young people have such bleak futures in part because they have to fund those retirements?
We’ve gone past class warfare to generational warfare; this is where the dwindling white population will really be noticed.
There are tens of thousands of 50 to 55 year old retired union members out golfing everyday in retirement earning 80k to 120k in retirement for life with full healthcare. Now, to fund something like that the person would have had to save around 3 million dollars in their 401k, reducing current income for self earned retirement benefits. BUT NO, unions coerced willing politicians that in exchange for votes the pols do somethig easy and simple, boost defined pension retirement benefits for unions. Easy, becuase the ticking time bomb would explode decades away and the pols themselves would be golfing in Palm Beach. It should have been illegal, but the best thing that can happen now is a severe reduction in "promised" benefits. Fortunately pols can't easily raise taxes to fund these underfunded DB plans becuase the math doesn't work. The alternative is to let the plans go bankrupt and provide the pensioneers the location of the politicians retirement home.
When did James Connors switch parties ?
