In the most shocking development yet, the Sony attackers have threatened a 9/11-like attack on movie theaters that screen Seth Rogen and James Franco’s North Korean comedy “The Interview.”

They also released the promised “Christmas gift” of files. The contents of the files are unknown but it’s called “Michael Lynton,” who is the CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“The world will be full of fear,” the message reads. “Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment

If I owned the theater, I would run free screenings on an endless loop for free. Just buy the popcorn and beer.

Is anyone else starting to think maybe the studios are just spinning this into a PR campaign at this point for a crappy movie?

You mean like Michael Brown’s step father will be charged with “incitement to riot” because he was caught on videotape encouraging the crowd to “Burn this bitch down” ??

Yea, I have faith Sony would get prosecuted if it is proven they were involved about as much as the man cited above.

There’s no internet in North Korea.

While that may be what most people think, it is not true.

Are they even 100% certain that the hackers are from North Korea? They seem to be a bit too knowledgeable about Hollywood and our pop-culture to be from there.

Starting? C'mon, get up to speed! Of course it's a PR stunt! has been from the get go.

This is so wrong, but you are making me laugh here.

Didn't want to be around South Korean soccer fans when their team was losing in the World Cup one year, and the South Koreans will tell you that the North Koreans are worse, so I wouldn't look forward to being around angry North Koreans in a movie theater.

This movie, like others from this particular acting crew are from the genre of “stupid/crude/funny”...

Apparently it did not screen well, therefore the hype from hacking Sony and the threats to those going to see it will only drive what will be the end rune to recoup the losses that are a forgone conclusion at the box office...

This will prolly go right to DVD, as soon as the hype dies down...

Which leads me to believe...

If they (NK’s) desire to conduct 9-11 style attacks in this country because of the distribution and sales of this movie in DVD...

Obviously the whole “rifle behind every blade of grass” is something they have not thought about...

But I equate the whole NK hacking an threat thing to a couple of Sony execs who stand to lose a buttload of money on this production...So why not try to work the countries bowels into an uproar...

That is what I would do...But hey, what do I know...

Yes it is. They "cancelled" it before the release date? Oh please.
