That has happened to me many times and sometimes still does even though I am seventy and white haired. I am still six four barefoot and I stand very straight. I have never refused.

As for the profiling — they are seeing a monster only because they choose to. I have known plenty of white people asked for assistance in stores when they did not work there. Customers often mistake fellow customers for employees. It just means you look more like you know what is going on around there than the average joe. Same for the Valet thing. You are just standing there, people think you work there. It is not a race thing. Could be a dress thing, but not a race thing.
The older you get the more likely you have heard “Do you work here?” while out shopping.
Well, he looks like, walks like and acts like the dipwad valets I have seen. So, you can just call a spade a spade.

So, in my black community, the venerable and strong black man who survived slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK, segregation, poll taxes, literacy tests (all from the same Democrat party) was finally killed off virtually — and literally in some cases through inner city gang violence — by Democrat policy.

A couple of thoughts:
1) He can afford to eat at expensive restaurants and pay for a valet to park his car in this racist society. Most white people cannot do so. Personally I wouldn’t know as I park my own car when I go to the local Italian restaurant in the strip center down the road which is the fancy restaurant in my area and the most expensive entree is $14.99. No valet either.
2) If wealthy white people at high end restaurants are behaving in a racist manner, why does he patronize these restaurants? Why does he vacation with them and go to their homes for $32,000 per plate fundraisers?
Perhaps what the Obamas instinctively know is the wealthy liberals they hangs out despise him as inferior the same way he views the average white working class people as inferior rubes.
One thing I’ve learned about life. If you are looking for something you will find it. He and she live like royalty yet they see racism and oppression everywhere. Sick.
The only thing the Obama’s know about racism is their own.
I’m always thankful for kind tall people like you :). I’ve had men see me standing on the bottom shelf trying to reach something on the top shelf volunteer to get it for me-such a blessing for my short self!
I’ve also had people ask for my help finding products many times, never was I offended. Well, once I was. It was a Somalian woman and her son and they didn’t smile, were curt and walked away without saying thank you. They’re the only ones who acted superior to me.
There different dimensions to this. Stereotypes have their origin in facts.
One of our family’s inside jokes is that I always get asked for directions. My first day in a new US city; by Spanish speaking tourists in NYC; by Russians in Moscow. It goes on and on. I posit that I am a pasty white guy with better clothes than a street person, that no one sees as threatening, no matter their origin or culture. I can’t claim any personal virtue, since none of these folks know me.
I have been doing that every day for years, every time his smug smarmy ignorant mug shows up on TV.
After a quick visit to the mute button, of course.
I positively can't stand this "undertaker tone," "corpse" version of ebonics...

Poor Mr. Obama has had a tough life. Private school in Hawaii, Ivy League education, and he has reached the pinnacle of political careers.
We Italians, Irish, Jews, Hispanics, Asians, etc. have never experienced any discrimination.

I am a white guy.
When I was about 14 years old, one Saturday morning my father took me car shopping. He had been puttering around the house, so he was wearing some old khakis and some kind of work shirt. Because he was a Mopar man, we went to the local Plymouth dealer (he was driving a full-size Dodge at the time) where the salesman took one look at this working-class guy and barely gave us the time of day.
Dad was doing a slow burn but remained polite, and after we had gotten whatever information the salesman deigned to give us, we left.
He then drove directly to the Dodge dealer, where the salesman was respectful, friendly, helpful. My father bought a full-size Dodge Polara with a giant V-8 on the spot!
As we drove home, my father told me that I should respect everybody I meet, and that no matter how shabby, how poorly spoken, how uneducated, I could learn something from everybody.
No matter what color you are, or what your ethnic persuasion, respect goes a long way.
Obama doesn’t respect others. Dad did.
Hands up, don’t shoot!

In the span of my life, I have misidentified as an employee of a store while I am innocently shopping. I do NOT take it personally.
I have also misidentified a few people as employees when they were innocently stopping.
Why do black people take it personally?
Also, as a tall person, I have been asked by many people to take something off a shelf.
How many whites have been targeted by black gangs? My dad talked about the same thing 50 yrs ago. Where is our victim card?

Roger that. Reminds me of some old adage about treating others like you’d like to be treated. I’ve attended a wedding of a custodial worker (she was black and cleaned our control room) and I’ve been to dinners with CEO’s of big corporations. Everybody gets the same treatment unless they prove they don’t deserve it. (MOPAR=More Outstaning Power And Raceablity :>})
