The threat of a 9/11-style attack has caused Sony to cancel the New York premiere of its new film, The Interview.
"Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made. The world will be full of fear. Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time," a note from hackers warned.
The premiere was supposed to be held tomorrow night at the Sunshine Cinema in Manhattan. Sony is telling other theaters they dont have to show the movie when it opens.
Its actually not crystal clear whether it is a cyber response that they are threatening, or whether its a physical attack, NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller said. Thats why were continuing to evaluate the language, but also the source.
Sony's files and personal emails were hacked by the group known as Guardians of Peace.
"The Interview" stars Seth Rogen and James Franco and its scheduled to open on Christmas Day. Rogen and Franco have canceled their promotional tour in support of the movie.
Gutless Hollywood narcissists.
These aren’t muzzies that will cut your head off. They’re NORKs. They’ll just starve you to death.
In this case, my sympathies are with the NK. Sony attacked Kim, and Kim is fighting back. This is what we all need to do. Fight Back.
Can this group come back and issue the same threat against ALL Seth Rogan movies?
I was watching the reports on CBS News last night and when they started reading through the threat I burst out laughing. It was clearly Korenglish - Korean English. I used to work with South Koreans and know it well.
I’m sorry but I don’t understand how Sony attacked Kim?
It's a sad day when conservatives need to look to NK for an example of having the balls to fight back.
All this nonsense aside, am I the only person who saw the commercials for this film and thought “I’ll pass - doesn’t seem remotely humorous.”?
“Sony attacked Kim, and Kim is fighting back.”
So, satirizing a brutal murderous dictator justifies retaliation? What happened to freedom of speech?
Wow.
I wonder how much their insurance claim will be.
I support that!
No. No you are not.
I can’t stand Seth Rogaine.
Who cares? The movie looks like crap anyway.
I haven’t paid any attention to this drama. Should I start?
