Some officials in the Indiana city of South Bend have called on a police officer to stop selling T-shirts that make light of the “I can’t breathe” refrain used in recent protests of the police killing of a New York City man.

Mishawaka police officer Jason Barthel this week began selling T-shirts with the message “Breathe easy, don't break the law” at a South Bend store he owns in response to a weekend protest at the University of Notre Dame. …

Clever and funny but beside the point really.....we should have the freedom to not fear undue harassment if not doing anything fairly suspicious. Law enforcement can really claim anything is suspicious behavior or resisting arrest or driving eradically. It is like indecency except that the burden of proof is on the alleged here.

I wonder what would happen if a bunch of white athletes wore those shirts during games? Does anyone believe all the lib talking heads praising the athletes wearing the shirts supporting Garner would be happy and tolerant? I doubt it.

South Bend City Council members Oliver Davis, Henry Davis Jr. and Valerie Schey on Tuesday called on Barthel to stop selling his “Breathe Easy” shirts.

“Unfortunately, the divisive message ... that is being currently promoted through the sale of T-shirts bearing this message damages the goal of unity and further divides our community,” they said in a statement.

Sounds like these council members need some education as to what, exactly, is “divisive”....

I talked to my Dad today. He waited over 30 minutes to buy one. Apparently some people support this guy.

Oh, but the "I can't breathe" BS is unifying?

He should tell them to go F themselves....

The price is right, too... Only $7.95 per shirt. No gouging there. I received an email from the officer by receipt and will send him encouraging words in response today.

I also found his Face Book page under South Bend Uniform Co. He could use support there, too, as he is being beat up by haters.

Remember when we had a 1st Amendment to Free Speech? No such thing in a Marxist country.

There are 9 members on the council. Those three are two of the three black members and a youngish white woman.

The white woman appears to be a Democrat. Surprise, surprise.
