I'm in San Diego county and if I ever went to San Francisco again I will drive.
Even flying isn't practical, you pay to park at home airport, and have to rent a car in San Francisco plus having to put up with the airline schedule.

Now, lets consider being in a tube...underground....going at a good rate of speed....in earthquake land. Or you could just think about BART.

What a target for the religion of peace!
Almost as cool of a target for the ROP as a nanotube space elevator.

takes a potential two hour trip and raises it to more like four hours. The last time I rode a train it stopped more times than a Grey Hound bus, in fact we often stopped near a bus terminal where you could get off and buy food that they no longer carried on the train.(1963)

BART trains top out at 80 mph.
This train will go more like 800 mph to make the trip in 30 minutes, allowing for acceleration and deceleration.

So do you have to clean the crushed bodies off the back and front of the cars periodically?
How many G’s does this thing pull accellerating/decellerating?

Now, if you’re going from nowhere to nowhere, you can do it faster than before.
Until there’s another annual California earthquake, that is.
