Do they not have spell check on their computers? Now, now... spell checkers pass compliment and complement both.
It takes a person (or Microsoft Word) to use the correct word in context.

Spell check is of little use if the word is misspelled in a way that makes it another word. "Compliment" means to speak well of something, "complement" means that one thing goes well together with another (e.g. Jam complements peanut butter, Gracie Allen complements George Burns), but it is a word.
