It’s not just Obama. Anyone who, at this point expects anything intelligent to come from any democrat politician just hasn’t been paying enough attention to them.

He was a university lecturer (of a sort) and he's doing the sort of thing law school lecturers and professors dream about -- acting out the fantasy, now that he doesn't have much time left and has written off any cooperation with Congress.

I doubt he gets up every morning wondering what he can do to destroy America. Rather, he's internalized the deeply divisive politics of the day and is doing what he can realize his side's agenda and thwart the other side's.

Is it really so hard to understand? He's caught up in the game of politics and wants to rack up points for his side. He sees Bill Clinton as a DINO or LINO or PINO, and doesn't want to take Clinton's road, so he takes a more intransigent or implacable approach.

Obama is the anti-conservative. He knows borders and nationalism mean a lot to conservatives. He knows conservatives are anti communist. Therefore he is in favor of normalizing relations with Cuba. Everything he does he does with the intent of upsetting and disturbing conservatives which he hates with a passion.

If it is an issue conservatives care about he will do the opposite, by executive "memo" no less. It's simply political math.

Maybe some of the dems that are up for re-election in 2016 will start openly disagreeing with him. After all, the Republicans main line this year was “so and so voted with Obama 98% of the time” ...etc. Many were mad at Reed cause he never brought anything up that they could vote against so just maybe....

I'd say he is a border line psychotic with more than a smidgen of malevolent fantasies. Between full moons, his open borders policy allows him to cross an unsecured border to enjoy the fullness of these malevolent fantasies. During full moons he is quite opposite and almost rational except for the twitch.

most of the time I have no earthly idea—nor do you-- why he does what he does or what he means by doing them.

I think the beginning "to understand" part about why Obama is doing what he is MUST start with the presumption that America, the Constitution, our heritage, and our Judeo-Christian foundation--the basis for our Rule of Law--is Obama's enemy. Only then do things start to make sense.
