My daughter's high school sings Part the First (plus "Hallelujah") every year in "sing along" style - anybody who wants to can climb up on the stage with their Barenreiter or Novello score and have at it (although it's tacitly assumed that you can deliver if you step up).

It is tons of fun. Did it every year she was in school and still do it every year she's at home for Christmas.

And we had bunches of it for her wedding - our music director (who can play anything - and I do mean anything, you can't stump him) played improvisations on themes from the Messiah for her processional, and we all sang the "Hallelujah" for the recessional.

How wonderful that your daughter’s high school exposes students to the finest, and what grand music to include in her wedding! Christmas without the Messiah just wouldn’t be the same-—both literally and figuratively. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
