Thank you livius. People who couldn’t get much mileage out of the Michael Unarmed Teen Brown case here at a conservative site, are latching on to the Garner case, again, ignoring the facts, in order to try to do what they couldn’t with the Brown case.
Neither of whom are the best examples of conservative appeals to authority.
The bottom line is if Garner didn’t resist arrest he’d still be alive today.
Yes, holding himself to a higher standard really worked well for George W. The media cut him all kinds of slack for doing so/s What the left, and some covert operators, really want, is for the right to tie their own hands while the left uses brass knuckles.
Yes, one can question without rooting, and I know of no one who has rooted for this - and it would be unacceptable and unconscionable if someone did root for this.
Yet it seems that some here have only an either/or mentality: You either never question or if you do then you hate cops.
This strategy doesn’t destroy you, my and others’ right to question or our First Amendment rights, but it is Ad Hominem that is meant to effectively gut questioning and thus do a round about against our First Amendment rights.

American cops kill Americans at a rate 40x that at which German cops kill Germans.
Obviously there are differences in how these stats were compiled and big differences between American and German society.
But it does seem to me that big a difference implies pretty strongly that too many Americans are killed by cops. Without prejudging any of the individual incidents.
Apparently according to Giuliani and the NYPD union even mentioning that is declaring war on cops. Go figure.

Americans cops kill a LOT fewer people, and a LOT fewer black people, than they used to.
Used to have some stats on this, but now I can’t find them. If I remember right, 50 years ago they killed something along the lines of 1200 people a year, most of them black.
We’re presently down around 400/year. Given the huge increase in population over this period, it means the rate has gone WAY down.
I do not want to get into any kind of conversation with you or anyone you are talking to who finds yo sensible or logical, esp bringing this up on such a day on such a thread.

I do want to state as someone who actually knows German culture and traffic laws, lifestyle, etc, that, whatever incited statistics you are looking at notwithstanding,
one -The Germans are a certain people. The country is not a melting pot. They will wait to cross the street for example until the light says ‘walk’ or ‘gehe’ whether there are cars coming or not. Whether it’s eleven at night or not whether there is a soul around or not
Two. The Germans just go by the rules. They go to driving school and learn to drive I mean for a year. In all kinds of conditions. It’s why they are allowed to drive at speeds we only dream of. I see more accidents in one week here where I live that I saw in three years in Germany no exaggeration at all

The primary purpose for having any government to begin with is to protect our life, liberty and property.
