I'm going to out on a limb here and something very controversial.

There are things in life that are more important than sports.

But of course! There is also a time and place for all things. Mixing politics and sports is extremely unwise. Political statements from a sports field are about as welcome as telemarketing phone calls. Those folks should not have the right to interfere with one's tranquility at home or the very purpose of attending a sports event.
