“With 60 percent of the state’s population, the greater Seattle area now outvotes the rural, conservative areas in the rest of the state.”

This is the problem in every state. The political map of the U.S., as shown on FR many times, is blood red, except for the major cities. The big cities are the cancers. This needs to be changed in some way—votes according to geography rather than per person?

The Founding Fathers had the answer to that problem:

They limited voting in federal elections only to citizens and property owners and taxpayers.

I think we should consider going back to that model.
