Probably some US hackers striking back. Or perhaps Sony grew a pair and outsourced a hack-attack!
FYI !
It wouldn't cost Sony much to shut down the Norks
Hey, china, I can beat your best!!!!
All 22 users off line! Ruh-roh!
If North Korea managed to inflict this on the United States, we'd consider it an act of war.
I'd have to wonder if this won't escalate further...
Did someone (CIA, for example) steal their modem?
How can anyone tell?
All 600 of them ....
Obama wants the power to do the same thing to internet in the US.

Looks like some very influential people here are wanting a war against China.
Just talked to a friend of mine in cyber security with one of the world’s largest tech companies. They have been watching it and appears to definitely be a direct and very heavy attack. Appears to be originating from Japan. It has already taken down all their defense communications that are network linked. Probably not much but I imagine that would be their most sensitive/critical systems. I cannot personally confirm that but they are pretty reliable source.
My perspective is that ingenuity and ability to address serious flaws in IT related areas does not necessarily require sophisticated resources to be highly damaging.
The fact that the US could direct resources to cripple the delivery layer for the internet isn’t surprising, but the underlying ability to wreak havoc on our infrastructure shouldn’t be pooh-poohed because NK is technologically backward with respect to IT infrastructure.
From my perspective, one good directed sustained moderate-tech attack against our financial systems (e.g., stock market) would be disastrous.
How can anyone tell?
No Norks are posting any “I’d hit it” replies.
Interesting post. Thanks
The kind of stuff you read on FR first.
Go to the Mill!!! Am scary, sensing Glory!!!
Bump.
Another update - looks like it has started impacting part of the power grid in Pyongyang. Maybe someone will take this opportunity to cross the border and make a run towards the capital? Interesting.
