Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Time: Don’t Let NYPD Shootings Cloud Issue of Institutionalized Racism
The Boston Globe ^ | December 22, 2014 | Braden Campbell

Posted on 12/22/2014 3:38:54 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

In the years since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar hung up his playing shoes, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer has collected a host of titles, including filmmaker, author and cultural ambassador.

He’s been a vocal advocate for African-Americans, and this weekend penned an essay for Time Magazine on the shooting deaths of two NYPD officers on Saturday.

Some have linked the shooting to the protests that sprung up after grand juries failed to prosecute the officers who killed Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Abdul-Jabbar disagrees, saying the suggestion the killer was acting in solidarity with the protests is false and a danger to the cause.

“The protests are no more to blame for his actions than The Catcher in the Rye was for the murder of John Lennon or the movie Taxi Driver for the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan,” he writes. “Crazy has its own twisted logic and it is in no way related to the rational cause-and-effect world the rest of us attempt to create.”(continued)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s real name Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. Do racial chips get much bigger than that?

I went to the doctor once when I was driving and my blood pressure was something like 160/100 and I’m not even fat. Once I quit it went down to to 120/70 LOL! that’s how much stress that job was.

Kareem, it's as pure and simple as the sky hook…

Tell your people to:

1. Not get pregnant until they're in a loving, secure marriage
2. Not get hooked on drugs or booze.
3. Stay in school, keep your head down, study, don't be afraid to be smart
4. Not develop as role models the likes of Sharpton, Obama, Jarret, Holder, Fiddy Cent, Dishawn this, Le'Dante that
5. Not buy in to the liberal spin that they can't possibly make it without gubmint
6. Work hard, live with a few room-mates to split expenses out of the hood

Wow!! That is incredible. Sounds like it’s a great thing for you and your family you left that job.

Dealing with the public is never easy, but inside of a taxi, where you’re trapped and have to take on all manner of people, in various states of intoxication or even messed up in such a way (emotionally or mentally in perhaps a scary way) that they wouldn’t be allowed in a public place... what a nightmare.

I have to take a cab frequently and the main person I always call told me his worst nightmare is taking a cab full of drunk girls (me, a middle-aged lady going to the mall and will pay when she gets there, is a treat for him, apparently :) ).

He doesn’t have a video camera inside his cab, so sometimes, they arrive and the girls don’t have the money to pay, but they threaten to accuse him of something he never did if he insists they pay, etc.

And you never get the option to chat or not. If you’ve got a talker... you’re stuck with him or her... for however long the ride.

I feel for you! I’m glad you’re out of that line of work.

but I digress from the topic of the thread.... :)

These are some of the companies that finance Sharpton’s race war, Anheuser-Busch, Macy’s, Pfizer, NY Developer Forest City Ratner, MGM, Pepsi, Macy’s, Honda, Chrysler, General Motors, FedEx, Continental Airlines, Johnson & Johnson and Chase. Al Sharpton is able to fly around the country advocating for violent protests and the murder of cops because many of the nation’s top corporations have fallen for his shakedown efforts and give him millions to fund his activities. It is time to pressure these corporations to stop finding this charlatan’s efforts.

Branden Campbell or the Boston Garbage editor probably didn’t want or forgot to remind this afro adminazter of poop of this. To axe him what he thought of the murderer’s message left behind. Which were lies he believed and that specifically cited those Obama Holder Sharpton manufactured “victim” reports which turned into “hands up don’t shoot me in cold blood” as his reasons for his racist retaliation cold blood killing of a hispanic and a “oriental” police offcer seated in their vehicle.

Kareem is so smart when he retired he was almost broke because his money managers robbed him blind.

Well on the bright side he can a least still dribble. However he was better at it when it was with a basketball.

Yeah I tell you, they think they can stick it to the little guy and get away with it, but I tell everyone I meet who brings that guy up what he is really like. Taxi drivers in New York city make absolute garbage money, pocket change unless they’re insane and drive 100 mph and work 24 hours a day , which a lot do by the way - they sleep an hour or two in the cab then they are off again. But for a guy like Jabbar to do that tells a lot about his character.
