No,I don’t want “Off”of the”Ping”list.I was out of the country from Nov.19-Dec.22 and I didn’t bother with my computer.I’m BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. We are using Reddit as a source? Is that the site dominated by 16 year old boys who look at teenage girls taking selfie nudes?
I once drove to the home office, three hours away, to resign.
By the time I got back to my office, my computer was gone, my user account was closed, and my access card did not work.
I knew it was SOP because of the access I had...but jeez, I felt like the college kid going back to my high school. They welcomed me to my own office, but no longer belonged there.
Former employees are potentially toxic for a lot of reasons; access to systems is one of the least.
Our HR manager had a VP suspended for two weeks without pay as a disciplinary measure because a terminated employee came back several days after his firing and discussed his termination with the VP.
Company policy was: you lay out your reasons for termination explicitly in the exit interview, you don't answer any questions about those reasons except to reiterate exactly what is in the interview statement, and you never discuss those reasons with anyone, and never give either a positive or negative job referral for ANY employee.
The liability is simply too great, and there are too many "employment" lawyers who will take up a termination case for the most trivial reasons.
Oh, I knew the procedure as I had put it in place before. The rule was that if you were at a certain level, they would take your notice, pay you through it—but you were done that day. I have the authority on the system to do anything—authorize credit, transfer funds, issue credits...all with limits of about $500,000 without any other authority. So, I completely understood and worked within the policy.
It was just funny that I had to call my assistant to allow me to clean out my desk. I was smart enough to have most of it ready to go when I made my decision.
We used to joke that you should give a six months notice, just to get the extra time off.
