While gay discrimination has been reduced in so many other areas of life, up until now, there hasn't been enough medical or political will to intervene on the blood ban.

I got no further than the above. This is total b.s. Let the medical experts decide; leave the politics out.

Why am I supporting NPR through taxes to produce this drivel? Have not listened in 15 years due to the overwhelming bias.

Actually the article makes a lot of sense, which is amazing for NPR. The writer is arguing that the one year ban makes sense. He gives statistics that homosexuals have 40 times greater risk of having HIV than heterosexuals and says this supports the current ban.

Yes the article is framed by typical leftist drivel like you quote but the core part is reasonable. I predict that NPR will pull it when the gaystapo get down to reading all of it not just the beginning.
