Not always. I loved “Animal House”, “Caddy shack”, and “Back to School.”

So did I, but those movies are all at least 3 decades old. I think there is definitely a generational difference in senses of humor to take into account. Comedy always has to go farther out to break new ground, so what goes for a bit edgy to a younger audience is way over the top to older viewers and often just turns them off.

Now, you listed 3 top shelf comedies though. I don’t think “The Interview” is in their league, and it won’t stand up as well over time. Still, I wouldn’t say it is a dud, there were plenty of good bits and it kept me entertained. I’d give it a B minus.

Firewalker is one of my favorite parodies.

Concur with your assessment and that from just watching the trailers and knowing the perps. Don’t get Seth’s, This is the End flick (Hope I got the title correct.) Another vile disgusting movie that could have been fun but they just couldn’t leave the evil out. Know them by their works.

Any movie where a tank shoots down a helicopter is good.

Oh damn - now the movie's ruined...

:)

A few of the crude "jokes" I recall from this stinker are now about ejaculating on the face, camel toe, how far up the rectum a missile payload can go, and using tiger blood for lubricant. Absolutely freaking hilarious material.

If this is where the younger generation's heads are today, we are truly doomed. If things need to be even more "edgy" next time, what's it going to take to get a laugh? I don't even want to speculate on that.

It was less than a decade ago people were writing to a network CEO complaining about a homo kiss on TV. Just look how far things have degraded in a short decade. Do you REALLY think we can continue on this trajectory without consequences for the entire nation?

Society cannot survive a steady stream of drek this vile. It has consequences -- just like Monica's BJs on Clinton changed the attitude of our nation's youth about what was acceptable behavior.

Happy to help, Dave. I am quite surprised not one review focused on this aspect of the movie.

Hey, you think you can write a wholesome “Leave it to Beaver” style comedy and make a profit with it nowadays, go ahead and do it. However, until the people demand stuff like that, the entertainment business is going to sell them what they want.

Enjoy wallowing in the filth, Boogie. People should know what they are buying and there’s no indication of that anywhere. Now at least a few people will know and can make an informed decision.

“People should know what they are buying and there’s no indication of that anywhere.”

Huh? I would think someone with your sensibilities would bother to read the MPAA rating for the film:

“MPAA Rating: R (for pervasive language, crude and sexual humor, nudity, some drug use and bloody violence)”

Maybe if you don’t skip that next time, you won’t be so disappointed.
