I think a lot of the FReepers who are panning it here would have hated any movie from that genre of comedy, so I can’t take their opinions too seriously.

Not always. I loved "Animal House", "Caddy shack", and "Back to School."

I thought the jokes in this one were flat and predictable.

on the other hand the I thought the actor that played Kim and the actresses that played the CIA agent and Korean diplomatic attaché all did great jobs.

So did I, but those movies are all at least 3 decades old. I think there is definitely a generational difference in senses of humor to take into account. Comedy always has to go farther out to break new ground, so what goes for a bit edgy to a younger audience is way over the top to older viewers and often just turns them off.

Now, you listed 3 top shelf comedies though. I don’t think “The Interview” is in their league, and it won’t stand up as well over time. Still, I wouldn’t say it is a dud, there were plenty of good bits and it kept me entertained. I’d give it a B minus.
