on the other hand the I thought the actor that played Kim and the actresses that played the CIA agent and Korean diplomatic attaché all did great jobs.
Not always. I loved “Animal House”, “Caddy shack”, and “Back to School.”
So did I, but those movies are all at least 3 decades old. I think there is definitely a generational difference in senses of humor to take into account. Comedy always has to go farther out to break new ground, so what goes for a bit edgy to a younger audience is way over the top to older viewers and often just turns them off.
Now, you listed 3 top shelf comedies though. I don’t think “The Interview” is in their league, and it won’t stand up as well over time. Still, I wouldn’t say it is a dud, there were plenty of good bits and it kept me entertained. I’d give it a B minus.
