Man kicked off American Airlines plane after rage over 'Merry Christmas' greeting

When a gate agent greeting everyone the same way told him "Merry Christmas", he responded "You shouldn't say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas."
"Well, what should I say then?" the agent reportedly replied.
"Don't say, 'Merry Christmas!'" the man retorted, now shouting, before walking past her onto the plane.
After a flight attendant greeted the unidentified man with the same Yuletide cheer, he snapped and began lecturing the staff about why they shouldn't say "Merry Christmas." The crew unsuccessfully tried calming him down before he was escorted off the plane.

"You shouldn't say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas." What's this Egalitarian Avenger doing boarding a plane, then? Not everyone can afford to fly. Hypocrite!

The article does not name the individual.
Perhaps because his ethnicity or religious affiliation would be blatantly obvious if his name were revealed?
Just a little theory of mine...not trying to be “provocative” LOL.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I've never understood this kind of thing. Even if I didn't believe I'd not get outraged over what is clearly a greeting. While I'm not sure this man is an atheist I know many atheists that just get beside themselves with anger at Christmas time. Its hard to understand getting so anger about something that they believe doesn't exist. Its clear for many of them that they feel betrayed by the very God they claim not to believe in. C.S. Lewis who had been an atheist provided a quote that sums this up pretty well. My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust? ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

I love that.
However, I live in a predominantly Black neighborhood, and NOBODY celebrates KWANZA. Nobody. Zilch. Zip. Zero. Nada. Bupkis. Nechevo. Rien.
And I am greeted with many greetings of Both “Merry Christmas!” and “Happy Chanukah!” as I walk my doggie through the neighborhood.
I have a Jewish-sounding last name, and my neighbors want to make sure they have covered all the bases! I respond positively to ALL greetings!

"You shouldn't say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas." I dont wish you a Merry Christmas because you or anyone else celebrates Christmas.
I wish you a Merry Christmas because I myself celebrate Christmas.
Even if you dont celebrate Christmas it cost you nothing to respond graciously or less than nothing to simply ignore my wishes for your wellbeing.
The United States used to be country of generally good manners. Today we are becoming more and more a nation of thin skinned, short tempered perpetually outraged children.
