“I want to see what happens in the hearings,” Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said. “But certainly I’m supportive.”
McCain and Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) all said in interviews they have met with Lynch privately and are inclined to vote in favor of her nomination.
“I would say yes, unless something comes up during the hearings,” Fischer said when asked if she was leaning toward backing Lynch.

If McCain is in her corner, then Ms. Lynch is unacceptable.

Is Eric Holder actually preferable to this lady? If not, there’s little logic to stalling this out as he stays on until a successor is confirmed. New boss same as the old boss...old boss stays until new boss comes in.
But there is no “no AG” - Holder stays on until she is confirmed. This would be picking a fight with no change in result either way.
Granted, there’s no reason for confidence they’ll use any political capital for a more worthwhile endeavor later, but even so this fight certainly isn’t it.
