resident Obama's new set of immigration policies could affect as many as 5 million people, including the possibility of a three-year reprieve from the threat of deportation for parents of children with legal status.
The new year will see those policies coming into effect, potentially creating dramatic changes for those who are in the U.S. illegally. Also ahead in 2015 are important shifts in how agents will enforce immigration laws to focus more on deporting people with lengthy or violent criminal records and less on people whose only crimes are immigration offenses.
The new approach will end the dragnet system that enlisted police in blowing the whistle on immigrants. These policies won't apply to most of the 11.2 million living in the country illegally.
And don't expect this to roll out without a fight. Republicans in Congress already have vowed...

Executive Branch “discretion” exercised in a blanket manner is no longer discretion, it is legislating.

Obama will find that one cannot flippantly declare “So help me God” nor flippantly take an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” while attacking it instead. The punishment may not come from Congress or the People, and if it doesn’t, that makes it worse ultimately, because of Whom he made that oath to.

Unless the Republicans really, really, really screw things up, 2016 will be a Republican year.
The illegals should keep that in mind when they consider "coming out of the shadows" and begin to declare themselves.
I would like to see some vocal "anti-amnesty" Republican throw their hat into the ring for 2016. That will surely stir things up.
Yes, it is legislating. This is not the first instance of the Executive usurping Congress’ exclusive power of legislating.
Boehner has allied himself with the Executive and repeatedly aids this usurpation. He should be expelled from the House of Representatives, I expect the Republicans will make him Speaker again.
