AG, may I refer you to post # 46?

It certainly contains the information you are jonesing for. Inexplicably, it leaves out my personal favorite cartridge, the Albanian 11.6 X 41.5.

There are police on Obama’s side - and police not on Obama’s side... Is this Maryland police department’s getting lots of military surplus... I’d bet on it.

How fast was the officer going if the driver was indeed “tailgating” the officer at 72mph in a 55mph zone?

Unless you advocate one law for he, another for thee, either both were at fault for speeding, or the officer was lying about the circumstances.

He can ask for your drivers license, if you are driving. Other than that, you do not have to answer anything.

The video referred to earlier sounds like a good explanation of your rights.

I dunno.

The article said the police claimed that the driver was speeding and tailgating the officer, but it did not say the officer claimed the driver was doing both simultaneously.

Simultaneity is implied in the article, and it is well known that government employees regularly turn a blind eye when other government employees speed But that is perfectly acceptable to those who ascribe to the "one law for he, another for thee" theory of "law enforcement". To those of us who do not, it is yet more evidence of condemnable State corruption.

the answer I was told in my SC CCW carry permit class, was that GA used to just hand out permits with little training, almost freely as they put it

the class I went through in SC was very thorough, it was my 3rd class, I did my own in CT with an old friend who just made me pay, we shot some weapons, he signed me off, he knew I was a Marine

my second class was with my girlfriend, to get her permit, I took the class a second time, made it serious for her, so it was like a refresher

SC was an 8 hour class, serious, testing verbal, written and shooting accuracy, I thought it was great

they explained that GA’s standards were so poor, SC stopped honoring them, so GA stopped honoring SC

that is what they tell SC residents in the classes, not sure how true, but that is how I was told 4 years ago

“....hey explained that GA’s standards were so poor, SC stopped honoring them, so GA stopped honoring SC...”

This is why making this a state issue is problematic in my view. The Second Amendment is a Core Federal Right. Therefore, it should be regarded as such by ALL of the States. What states like Maryland and New Jersey ( the two states are in a constant battle to see which one is our Nation’s toilet) are doing is unlawful abuse of this country’s citizens. The Constitution also is supposed to insure that we have freedom to move about the whole country with out fear of arrest.

I find it hard to believe a GA redneck is any better or worse than a SC redneck with a weapon
I came from CT, I am an amateur compared to you guys, but an expert back home :)

Down here, you grow up with guns all the time, up there, you have to whisper and hush about it

Apparently the citizen did not have any gun with him.

But if he had, and it was securely in the trunk, then he would have been protected when traveling interstate by Federal statute, no matter what Maryland’s laws are.

As for SC, they issue carry permits only to SC residents or property-owners. They do not honor other state’s carry permits.

NJ and MD, and parts of southeastern NY, and MA, do not in practice issue carry permits. I know NJ best: they have a procedure on the books, but in practice do not issue carry permits to ordinary citizens. They require that you have evidence ahead of time that you (as an individual) are under some direct threat, specific threat. Then they may take up to six months to issue a permit. They evade the 2nd Amendment, and ignore recent Federal court rulings on this issue, and get away with it because those rulings were not made in the Federal District to which NJ belongs.

If the Federal courts do not get throughly packed with 0’s appointees, it is possible that the courts will eventually rule against NJ.

NJ is generally a lawless state, anyway: it is ruled by its own politicized courts, who make up their own rules by fiat. We need a new state constitution here in the Garden State! But that would probably be of no use, because the state is virtually broke, and would not have the money to print copies of the new constitution.

There is no way to know. The article does not imply anything one way or the other.

And it doesn’t matter. The officer manufactured the probable cause of suspicion of marijuana possession so he could search the vehicle. Once the officer saw the driver’s CHL, he was willing to make whatever allegations he needed to make in order to justify his stop and search.

South Carolina Reciprocity
RECIPROCITY

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho (Enhanced Only), Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Residents of reciprocal states who hold permits issued by their states of residence may carry concealed firearms in South Carolina, but must abide by the restrictions in the South Carolina CWP law. For that reason, out of state residents of reciprocal states should familiarize themselves with restricted carry locations and other provisions of South Carolina law posted on this website. South Carolina permittees who carry firearms in reciprocal states are likewise responsible for familiarizing themselves with the applicable laws and regulations of the reciprocal state. Web sites of those states may be accessed by selecting the desired state name listed above.

“I think the founders DID issue a National carry permit. It says right to keep AND BEAR arms shall not be infringed.”

ABSOLUTELY TRUE! So where have the wheels come off? Answer, the SCOTUS ( and their lower echelon “buddies”), coupled with some out of control state legislatures. I am beginning to think that a CCW just makes one a convenient target for the government. At the end of the day if you are forced to use a gun for self protection, the fact that you do or don't have a permit will likely be the least of your worries.
