I have heard that when a cop runs a license plate number, the screen will tell them if the vehicle’s owner has a concealed carry permit.

This is correct in Texas and a number of other states I am familiar with.

I have heard that when a cop runs a license plate number, the screen will tell them if the vehicles owner has a concealed carry permit. In the article the cop spokesman claims the MDTA does not have access to those data bases threw their plate scanner. That of course does not mean they do not have that information available by other means.

Having a CCW doesn’t waive the gentleman’s 4th amendment rights or serve as probable cause to search his car. I would like to know exactly how this stop went down.

I had a borrowed vehicle stolen this year. I called the police and gave them my name and address. A second later they said that I came back as a CCL and asked if there was a gun in the car.
