Fallows gets it wrong. We won Iraq. Obama and Hillary didn’t sign the Status of Forces Agreement that was ready to be signed. We controlled all 12 of their bases.

We won Iraq

No sale.

Japan? Yes. Germany? Yes.

Iraq? If that's winning, I would hate to lose.

I agree.

Everyone else can KMA. The people who complain the loudest and the longest are the very same people who would have complained loudest and longest had we done nothing.

We did the right thing in both places. I am sick of the “We should have turned the desert to glass” people.

Our military did an unbelievably good job under difficult circumstances in both Afghanistan and Iraq, with not only some liberals carping on them the entire time, but also some “conservatives”.

Fallows gets it wrong. We won Iraq.

If the mission had been named Operation Kick Saddam Hussein's but out of Iraq, then we won achieved that victory.

But George Bush named it "Operation Iraqi Freedom." We never came close to achieving that end. You can't teach Muslims to act like civilized human beings. The only way to achieve Iraqi Freedom is to convert the majority of the people of Iraq to Christianity or Judaism. Instead of trying to convert these people, we allowed the new government to institute Sharia Law and call themselves an Islamic Republic. Then our own military ordered Bibles to be burned so as not to offend these animals.

We lost Iraq and Afghanistan for the same reasons. We never went there to win.

Fallows gets it wrong.

Just as he did 20 or 30 years ago when he predicted Japan was about to eat our lunch.

In Vietnam we started throwing away victory in order to in the end help the other side. We are doing it again now.

In the immortal words of Tom Moorer, when you asked him about the media coverage in Nam, he would growl: "Seems like they turned all our victories into defeats." Then a Dem Congress finished the job. As pointed out by Jean Jaques Servan-Schreiber in "The American Challenge," Ho Chi Minh won the war on the American campuses and in our media. Now, under the current [lack of] leadership, we're doing it again.
