A "mass wedding"? Is that "millions and millions" of gay couples that are expected, or "a handful" (*) that look like Big Gay Al?

Perhaps it means they'll have mass. This may be more religious than it appears on the surface.

The "mass" may be conducted by some women who consecrated themselves into the church of god-knows-what.

Therefore, it will not be valid in the eyes of God.
