Bleak 2015 for Spaniards still engulfed by economic crisis

Behind the iron door of a ground floor flat in Madrid's working-class suburb of Vallecas around 30 people have gathered as Veronica Hidalgo announces she will be evicted from her home in 2015.

"I have lived in social housing for the past two years. I paid 50 euros ($60) a month. It climbed to 400 euros," explains 26-year-old Hidalgo at the meeting.

The regional government of Madrid has sold her 46-square-metre (495 square foot) apartment to a private company that drastically increased the monthly rent.

Hidalgo, an unemployed mother of two children aged four and eight, only has a monthly income of 323 euros. If she fails to pay her rent, she will be evicted on February 18.

Three thousand social housing units have been sold by the cash-strapped Madrid regional government, causing hardship for renters.

She said she may be able to get some help from her mother or the father of her children, although he too is jobless.

The meeting was called by anti-eviction group "Stop Expulsions", which holds such self-help gatherings once a week in Vallecas, a town badly hit by Spain's economic crisis that erupted when the property bubble burst six years ago.

Carmen Martinez Ayuso, 85, was evicted in Novemberfrom the modest Vallecas apartment where she had lived for five decades.

The widow had co-signed a loan of 40,000 euros for her only son, using the flat as collateral. He lost his job four years ago and the family was unable to make payments.

The case sparked indignation across Spain and it served as a reminder that despite statistics showing the Spanish economy is on the mend, people are still suffering and facing a bleak new year.

“it served as a reminder that despite statistics showing the Spanish economy is on the mend, people are still suffering and facing a bleak new year.”

Americans can relate; most of any new jobs here didn’t go to Americans anyway.

When you travel to Spain everyone asks for cash as payment, usually offering discounts. A huge part of their economy is underground and off the books.

Oh, and the Spaniards need not worry, as I’m sure the Spanish Premier will reassure the nation in his annual State of Spain address that their economy has roared back to prosperity due to his fabulous, unstinting efforts.

Zero interest rates will help the jobless.
right?

And a 18,000+ DOW shows the poor and jobless are well off.
Right?

Or was Obama/Fed just enriching the already rich and pissing on the middle and lower classes....other than the illegals and the F.S.Army of course.
