A new proposal in Oklahoma would bar drunk drivers from buying or consuming alcohol -- and already is raising concerns over how it would be enforced.
Fox 25 in Oklahoma City reports that state Sen. Patrick Anderson is proposing a bill that would allow a judge to enforce the alcohol restrictions on anyone with a DUI charge for a set period of time.

Heck, why not call for the electric chair?
Seems to me that the logical response would be to try and give the first-time offender an attitude adjustment... license suspension for a period. Then, if someone doesn't learn and re-offends, ramp up the harshness of the punishment.
Alaska puts a red stripe on your drivers licence, it is why you are carded every time you buy. Seems stupid to me to take away the car but not the drugs. Once they are drunk they don’t care about not having a driving permit.
It disgusts me whenever I see “Conservatives” of all people pushing for big government, and more senseless laws.

It can’t work. To enforce it each liquor store would have to check every patron that comes in. They can’t do it. Okies still haven’t grasped the concept of passing lane vs slow lane. There’s no way they can do a background check on everybody who buys booze.
Does this mean stores that sell alcoholic beverages will have to ID all customers?
If I buy beer at CVS, Rite Aid, or Walmart Grocery store, I have to show ID (I’m 56, with gray hair). They go even farther, at Target, I have to hand them my ID, they scan it before the register will even accept the bar code (I stopped buying, there, when they started that policy).
It’s also state law that NO alcohol can be sold at self serve check outs, where as it used to be that they would simply have a clerk look you over, but ID you only if you appeared questionable, age wise.
Back when I was fully employed, I bought my beer from a Mom and Pop Shop, but since my old employer let 400 of us go, and I make about 40% less, I buy 1) less beer 2) sale priced, from the chain stores. If I recover, wage wise, I’ll go back to Mom and Pop, and gladly pay the higher price.
How do you get falsely accused of a DUI?
I’m just curious, for future reference. I’m definitely NOT a fan of the Revenueing Police State.
All purchasers of alcohol will need a criminal background check at the time of each sale.

I agree and will only add that if they are actually abiding by their drivers liscence revocation, then they are actually the safest drinkers in society.....If they can live their lives without driving, then no one should be too concerned about them walking up to the local party store and buying a case of beer or a fifth...

Any driver that causes property or personal damage should be held account equally before the law. A texter that murders another driver does not result in a victim that is less dead than the victim of the drunk driver.
Many on this board think otherwise.

We were in an urban area at around 11:45 PM heading home from a late dinner downtown. We were driving on a stretch of road that was originally a 2-lane road that had been converted to 4-lanes, but without widening it. There are large, old oak trees lining it that are literally growing into the pavement. It’s tight.
There was no one on the road at the time (either direction) and my wife, not being a fantastic driver, was technically in the right lane, but didn’t like being so close to the trees so she was straddling the line.
The officer pulled us over for “failure to maintain lane.”
My wife had had one glass of wine around 8PM, but we then ate a large dinner.
The officer asked if she had been drinking and she said that she had had one glass of wine earlier.
The officer administered a road side test. He reported that she passed with flying colors.
The officer administered a breathalyzer. He reported that she showed no signs of alcohol.
He then handcuffed her and stated that he was taking her to jail for a DUI and failure to maintain lane.
I protested at this point - politely (it’s all on dash cam video) - and was thrown into the side of her car and threatened with having my arm broken.
I had not drunk anything, but the officer would not let me drive the car the remaining 200 yards to our apartment.
He left me on the side of the road after locking my cell phone inside the car and taking the keys. I walked across the street and made a collect call on what must be the last, remaining pay phone in the city. A friend came and got me and I went and paid her bail. It turns out the officer had made a detour and I actually beat him back to the station.
Bail being paid didn’t seem to matter and they kept her in a drunk tank about 6’ x 6’ for 13 hours with 5 other women as I sat in the waiting room. One of the women was masturbating on the floor when she was put in.
How do you prevent that? Do not, under any condition, ever say anything to the officer. Silence is golden.
OH, almost forgot: At trial, as I was sitting outside the court room, that officer threatened me with physical violence against saying anything against him.

Luckily, our lawyer overheard him.

Lose your license for life? Are you insane? DUI/DWI’s have turned into a huge cash cow for all involved...safety is not the issue no matter what you think, it is how much money they can dredge out someone nothing more. The fact that roadblocks are now the norm is because of persons such as yourself who honestly believe it is done purely for the protection of society. If any people who should be barred for life are illegals who have driven here since they invaded...now we are subsidizing the leeches probably with funds from dui cases...no way can I agree with your outlook.
I don’t care how it is used. I am 45 years old and never drove with even a drink in my system. It can be done but the liberal lives of you and others continue to ruin our country. You want free drunk driving which is nuts.
