Immigration suppresses wages, the only difference between legal and illegal is how quickly they get to vote for the democrats and collect welfare.
The level of education and the desirability of the immigrant is generally better for legal immigrants. Some legal immigrants are very useful and provide skills that are in short supply. I guess you could say legal immigrants contribute to suppressing wages, but this country was founded by people coming from other places. So, I don’t have a problem with controlled legal immigration. However, I have a big problem with illegals though.
