Not at all. As long as we keep the supply increased, the price per gallon will stay down and an increase in the tax will be barely noticeable to the consumer. If shale oil fails, OPEC will, once again, have total control over the market and will quickly decrease the supply to raise the price again which will be bad for America and good for all the people we hate the most. I am normally very much for free trade and low taxes but in this case, we have too much riding on shale oil. I think an increase in the fuel taxes would be an excellent idea if, and only if, it were used to subsidize the shale oil revolution.
