Lt. Col. Ralph Peters tonight gave a detailed plan to Bill O’Reilly on how he would fight terror.
“One: You accept that you are in a war. Two: You name the enemy, Islamist terrorists. Three: You get the lawyers off the battlefield […] you accept there will be collateral damage and you do not apologize for it. You do not nation build, you don’t try to hold ground. You go wherever in the world the terrorists are and you kill them, you do your best to exterminate them, and then you leave and you leave behind smoking ruins and crying widows. In in five or 10 years they reconstitute and you gotta go back, you go back and do the same thing, and you never, never, never send American troops into a war you don’t mean to win,” Peters said.

Its a bit more complicated regarding deposing Saddam.
Bush 1 did not take our Saddam due to feared it would leave a power vacumn.
The old man has proven he was right.
However, there were credible reports of Kurd genocide, and political murders numbering up to 600,000, that morally justified the war in some peoples minds, like Clinton bombing Serbians for alleged Albanian atrocities.
Additionally, Dubya and the neocons justified taking out Saddam on WMD threat intelligence from Germany, Britain and Italy. Saddam played cat and mouse with Lots of WMDs, that escaped UN weapons inspection. Most of the WMDs went to Syria via pre-2003 war convoys. Saddam did have Bunkers of old nerve and sarin gas that only recently had been admitted by media reports.
Very tough call.
Ultimately many are proven correct that its best not to avoid foreign entaglements, shun / distrust islamic nations, and to not engage in nation building.
We continue to ignore that at our peril.

I would wholeheartedly agree with the small excerpt you posted.
I would also go further and destroy any and all infrastructure that makes life comfortable. No electricity, cell phone service, water, sewage, gas stations, hospitals, bridges, etc and I would bomb anything they tried to rebuild for 5 years.

Kinder, gentler wars are not just irrational contradictions, they are suicidal jokes.
Wars are engaged with the will and resolve to end them as quickly as possible, with NO RULES, or not fought at all.
The alternative is immediate surrender, or a long, agonizing protracted one, with a much larger mortality rate for the losing side.

Its when the FoxNews folks put him on with semi-agreeable guests is when you don’t so much listen to what he says, but concentrate on watching everyone else in the mix, cringe...
That’s when I have to wonder, why cringe???
The enemy has clearly stated their intent and mission to the rest of the world...Why is it so hard to not honor that intent, and go out and kick their ass, kill as many as you can get your hands on...
Unfortunately, it may take total loss of decorum, civility, security within our borders where you can’t walk outside your front door, at any time, or place, knowing the bad guys are out there waiting to kill you as soon as you cross their path...

Look at the ultra rich like that clown in the news for running underage sex slaves all over and allegedly to other rich and famous.
Now imagine those people in an islamicized America. They would have near carte blanche to do ANYTHING their twisted hearts desired and get away with it under the tenets of islam and still retain the wealth and power through the corruption inherent in that style theocracy. They would retain their wealth and power in an environment where guys like that could get away every time for that type of stuff. Underage isn’t an issue, multiple wives (with no rights), slaves, kill with impunity under the excuse that some taboo was violated, etc...
Most of those elites, and politicians for that matter, are to the point where they could give a crap about Christianity and Judaism, those religions are a huge impediment to control and authoritarianism. islam though, now that’s a religion you can get your jack boots on for...
We won WWII but not as completely as we would have had it not been for the politicians. We fought WWII as if our very existence depended on it. And it did. We’ve lost nearly all of the conflicts in which we’ve been involved since WWII. They’ve mostly been what I’d deem political wars managed by politicians and not generals. They were fought in distant lands and our physical well being wasn’t threatened. Now, with the emergence of emboldened militant islamists, our physical well being is once again being threatened. And, like WWII, we must deal with the threat seriously, as if our existence depends upon it. Because it does.
