They know how to deal with such problems...not with wimpy, “civilized”, proportional responses, but with WILDLY DISPROPORTIONATE response that (the remaining) relatives in the area will speak of in hushed voices for generations.
When this is done, which is the right of the victims, I maintain that in the long run, FEWER people get killed and more people enjoy peace.

This is a complex subject. You could make a case that the way WWI ended CAUSED WWII, in leaving what amounted to a permanently crippled country. Getting the Germans and Europe on the their feet paid off big time in what we sold to them over the next 40 years.

The military moderated the radical totalitarian bent inherent in Islamic states, mostly implicitly. Although this is no longer true as of the late 90s here is a great quote from the last great military leader spearheading the checks and balances against encroachment of muslim religious/military excesses of the last 15-20 years.

He could afford to pretend to do that - with most of its non-Muslim Armenians already conveniently dead. F- Ataturk.

Not their first clue. We abandoned South Vietnam six years before the Shah.
General Black Jack Persing used this strategy in the Phllipines. When he captured moslum rebels, he wousd shoot one and tie his head in a pig skin. He would release three or four so they could tell their companions whot will happen to them if the keep rebelling.
I believe this denies them entrance into Paradise and hence no contact with the virgins. Coating your bullets (the projectile) with pig grease also does the same thing if they are killed.

But wasn’t the Shah the first “leader” we abandoned? Of course we’ve always put people in power then took them out when it was no longer convenient for us to have them there.
Obama was going to make the world respect us again. He intentionally made it much worse. And our enemies knew what he was going to do because he’s their friend.

Carter abandoned both the Shah and Somoza of Nicaragua at about the same time. JFK abandoned South Vietnam’s President Diem in 1963 and managed to get Diem assassinated.
Carter was a fool who the Soviets saw as weak and they took advantage of that weakness by starting a series of brushfire wars in Africa and Latin America. Obama is as bad or even worse and we will be very lucky if a major war doesn’t grow out of his incompetence.
