In WW II we were allies with the Murderious Stalin—He killed alot more than Assad—Maybe we can tame him so he would not slay so many? He was good to Christians? Its him or Al Baghdadi —who is worse? Its worth a shot—the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Why bother to make the effort? It is better to just kill Assad off and get it over with.

Molly coddling is counter productive.

(that applies to many Americans that are actually enemies as well)

Between Assad & ISIS, Assad is clearly the lesser of the two evils.

We Jeffersonian idealists must accept that the only stable form of government in the Middle East outside of Israel is secular dictatorship.

Give the devil his due: Christians were better off under Saddam that in the current Islamic Republic of Iraq. Was Mesopotamia depopulated of its 2,000 year old Christian community while Saddam ruled?

Secular dictators can and usually are evil SOBs. But their urge to inflict harm pales next to ISIS murderous fanaticism. “Don’t mess with me & I’ll leave you alone” is the social compact that dictators make.

“Allahu Akbar!!!” is a license to kill in huge numbers & without end.
