The two main reasons that Romney lost is that conservatives stayed home.
They would not vote for liberal Romney and they certainly would not hold their nose and vote for a Mormon. They don’t want to say it, but their faith precludes them from giving a mormon control, so in default we gave a muslim-sympathizer control. Strong conservatism wins every time.
Setting the BS meter off there, bud. Romney lost because Americans recognized a sucker's bet when they saw one. They saw through the ruse of choosing which is better, a pink chain or a blue chain. It was a losers game and you fell for it.

Yep, Windflier nailed it. I always forget the "amnesty" thing. My belief is that if America ended freebies ala welfare for "disadvantaged minorities" and got rid of the immoral "minimum wage" (which represents a large income for a resident of a cardboard-box village in Mexico), it would greatly reduce the illegal immigrant problem, so ... that's why I forget amnesty! But you're right.
Voting for a guy like that on the pretense of voting "against" a Democrat who would make the same errors, is nuts.

I'm tired of all of it. As you so succinctly put it, anyone willing to vote for the R's at this point really are just pushing the party to the left. I didn't fall for anything. I did hold my nose and voted for Ryan. I have been mad since 2008. The Republicans put up two terrible candidates. They should have known how bad a choice Obama was, but they did not counter well. I am tired of the notion if they nominate the most moderate (read liberal) of those running, then that is the best choice.
I know a bunch of folks that regretted that Obama was elected a second time, knowing they did not vote.
But their faith would not allow them to pull the lever for a Mormon, and I will not back off of that.
Following the tenets of their founder puts them in the same league as in ignorant jackass.
