10 warnings for the 'Romney in 2016' crowd
Washington Post ^ | 01/13/2015 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 01/13/2015 7:25:11 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Mitt Romney’s big donors and his misfit band of 2012 advisers (who managed to make one of the most competent and generous men to run for the presidency look like a bumbling Scrooge) are trying, obviously and frantically, to keep their own hopes alive for another Romney run. They might want to rethink what they are doing. Here are 10 tips for the “Romney in 2016 crowd:

1. Using talking points like “Ronald Reagan ran three times” treats Republicans like dolts. Fellas, Reagan lost in 1976, then won in 1980 and 1984. Romney might, however, move in on Harold Stassen’s legacy. (Stassen tried for the presidency nine times. Never got there.)

2. The “rivalry” between Romney and Jeb Bush is like that between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The former is so confident of its own stature that it does not know there is a rivalry. Romney is Los Angeles.

3. NBC’s Andrea Mitchell doesn’t buy into a 2016 Romney run. (“I think Mitt Romney’s motivation here, people close to him think, in the end, he won’t do it, that all this talk is really antagonism against watching Jeb Bush getting so far out front that this is kind of, ‘If Jeb can do this, I can do it.’ But that in the end, he’ll realize, there’ll be a reality check. The third time is not a charm.”) Neither does the conservative blog Hot Air. When neither the liberal media nor sober conservative bloggers want to play along, Spencer Zwick needs a different hobby (other than trying to spin the media).

4. If Romney had really learned anything from 2012, he’d be telling his 2012 team to scram and he’d be out getting new, serious advisers who know how to poll, how to message and how to defend from smears.

The media is showing its worry that Romney will get in and help split the RINO/Low Information vote in the primary.

The Washington Post, scared that a Romney run will split the “establishment” vote and let in Ted Cruz, is doing whatever they can to stop Romney from running. I say “Run, Romney run “.

If Romney had really learned anything from 2012 he wouldn't be running at all, and would be encouraging Jeb Bush to stay the hell out of it.

But he didn't.

TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!

Is Cruz eligible to be POTUS?

I've read conflicting assertions on this forum.

Is he a Natural Born Citizen, or not?

Ted Cruz's citizenship derives from the facts of his birth, not from following a naturalization process afterwards.

Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen, and he's eligible to be President, and would make a good President.

R0mney is a socialist, and an abortionist, and a gun-controller, and a faggot supporter. He is completely unworthy to be President.

I fear that once again we are going to hear the lie that RR ran for president 3 times before he was elected, and Romney is following in his footsteps. When RR did win the nomination, he went on to win the presidency, unlike Romney who lost. A more apt comparison for Romney is Adlai Stevenson, who was nominated twice and lost twice. If we should be foolish enough to nominate him again, he will lose again, and after that if he still keeps on trying to run, he will be the new Harold Stassen.

Reagan did not spend two years preparing for ‘68. Conventions were different back then, and he was closer to the nomination than any would dare think. Reagan also had a groundswell based on being Reagan. Romney’s groundswell is among people who want the social issues people to shut up and leave the running of the country to Romney-types. Hardly a clarion call.

Romney had one good day in 2012, when he utterly destroyed the idiot Obama in their first debate.

But one day does not a campaign make, and overall, Romney's general election campaign was an anemic unfocused half-effort that threw away a winnable election.

No third chance Mitt. You believe in nothing/everything, you're not likeable, and you inspire no one. Adios.

It's a safe bet that if the Mittster is the nominee, going up against Hildabeast, Fauxchohantas, or any 'Rat nominee that's not a straight white Christian male, he'll listen to the "consultants" advising him to pull his punches so as not to be called 'racist', 'sexist', 'homophobic', etc. Sad but true.

I think Romney would make a good president. He’s smart and knows how to run a business and running the U.S.A. is definitely a business. Yes, he ran before and goofed it up but he learned his lesson and won’t make those mistakes again. BTW Abraham Lincoln ran eight times before he finally won the presidency and he turned out to be one of America’s greatest.

Running the USA is running a business? Think again.

What business can force me to give them money?

I think I speak for a lot of conservatives when I say that government is too big.

I don't want it to be run better; I don't want all the government I'm paying for. I want less government. Mitt is not the man for that job.

Some facts on Reagan and primaries.

The first time he ran, Reagan was a sitting governor already identified as a conservative leader and he ran against a SITTING republican president, in his second run he was only months out of his second term as Governor of California, and he almost knocked off a SITTING republican president as the counting went on after midnight “Ford prevailed with 1,187 delegates to Reagan’s 1,070”.

It was during Reagan’s third run that Romney left the GOP, eventually to become a democrat supporter, fund raiser, and even voter.

In that 3rd primary, Reagan became the nominee, and won 44 states to become President, Romney won the nomination in his 2nd try, and lost to Jimmy Carter’s second term, in an election that republicans couldn’t lose.

She does mention something that freepers need to keep in mind as some freepers are trying to sell Romney as to the right of anyone in the GOP.

Romney is not to anyone’s right, Romney is so hard left that he is not a rino, he doesn’t even belong in the GOP at all, he pushes the definition of rino, farther left.

7. The idea of running to Jeb Bush’s right does not work when your gubernatorial record is less conservative than Bush’s on health care, taxes, the Second Amendment, etc.

Romney does not know how to run a campaign. I saw it written yesterday. Romney lost to Obama, a man hated all around, someone he should have beaten by five points at least. Romney lost because people don’t identify with him. They don’t think he cares one bit about them. They don’t trust him. Not even people in his own party.

Romney won one election his entire life and left Massachusetts because he knew he wouldn’t have been able to win a second one if he had stayed and tried to run again. I know that if he had actually attempted to campaign against Obama the way he campaigned against Newt Gingrich, instead of running up and down Florida telling everyone what a great guy Obama is, he might have won the state.

Any ability he may have to run a business might make him a good chief of staff for someone, but as presidential material, he’s no good. Mitt more than proved it the last election. He likes libs too much to run against them and I can’t imagine the democrats choosing any conservatives for him to run against.

At this point, calling anyone a front runner is silly. Jeb is leading because he is the only one running. I could win a marathon, sometime toward the end of next week, if I was the only entrant.
