We sometimes forget that not all veterans are conservatives.

Thank you, I really appreciate the further details.

Personally, I can’t see a reason to excuse this man for those actions.

I’m not sure how much I support not guilty by reason of insanity pleas to be honest.

I might be able to support it in the case of a battered spouse or child abuse or something along these lines, but I can’t see something like that in the case.

This guy was bipolar and he was a forward observer?

“Soldiers in this MOS must meet a number of requirements not demanded of other military careers. The observer must be acutely aware of the position and movements of friendly troops as well as those of opposing forces. Because of the strategic importance of this information, observers in the Army must qualify for a security clearance; the [1] depends on the specific position. Observers must be able to work independently for long periods of time and, because the clandestine nature of their work and their frequent placement on or behind enemy lines, the ability to operate with minimal support is of great importance as some missions can often last for days or weeks.

Physical demands on forward observers are often extremely high since they fight alongside or in support of airborne infantry, light infantry, mechanized infantry, a joint task force or a sister service while carrying a much greater equipment load (radios, secure communication equipment, laser rangefinder and target designator, etc.) than the maneuver element they are attached to.”

Execution? Where is O.J.?

Brannan, 66, is to be executed Tuesday for the January 1998 slaying of 22-year-old Laurens County sheriff's deputy Kyle Dinkheller.

This murderer has been sitting on death row for 17 years? That's the problem! He should have been put down many years ago. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Inexperienced green officer vs experienced combat soldier.

Had I been that officer, given the time available, I would have gotten in my patrol car, backed out and gotten out of range.

Or as someone else said, followed the guy to the car, weapon ready and stopped him before he had the chance to raise the rifle.

Either way, it is a shame that young officer did not have sufficient training.

Good to know. Thanks. I enjoyed the Captain and Mr. Green Jeans when I was a kid. This part is true.

Today I realize how flawed a program it was. They weren’t explaining how White folks were always racist. They weren’t explaining how White culture should be replaced with Mexican or African culture. They weren’t explaining how Blacks should get a free pass for everything they do. They weren’t desensitizing me to same sex acts in the bedroom, and the need for them to be recognized the same as heterosexuals in marriage.

Then there’s the cross dressers and sex assigned challenged. They sure missed that one.

Thank goodness this show and shows like “Father Knows Best” and “Leave It to Beaver” are no longer around. Society is so much better today.

“Modern Family”, now that’s the ticket.

/s

Was he a combat vet or a REMF pretending to be stressed?

I’m 66 and a Vietnam vet. A travesty that it took nearly sixteen years to bring this creep to final justice.

Would like to see his DD 214 with all his combat awards.

I’ve been told how to go to the VA & give all the right answers to get disability payments for PTSD. No thanks.

If he truly was having a flashback I doubt he would have at one point, yelled he was a “Vietnam combat veteran.”

It will be interesting to see if the execution goes forward. Does anyone now the name of the Supreme Court Justice having jurisdiction over the circuit containing The State of Georgia?
