Why We’re Losing to Radical Islam
Wall Street Journal ^ | 1/15/2015 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 01/15/2015 1:22:14 PM PST by iowamark

The United States has been at war with radical Islamist terrorism for at least 35 years, starting with the November 1979 Iranian seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and taking of 52 American hostages...

For the next two decades, radical Islamist terrorism grew more powerful and more sophisticated...

Congress should investigate:

1. The current strength and growth rate of radical Islamists around the world. We need a detailed sense of the total picture. The scale of the threat from this nihilistic global movement, I suspect, will be stunning.

2. The country-by-country danger. Americans simply don’t realize how dire the situation is in specific areas. Boko Haram has killed thousands more people in Nigeria alone than Ebola has in all of Africa, according to data compiled by the Council on Foreign Relations and the Centers for Disease Control. One or more hearings should focus on each center of radical Islamism, including Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

3. The role of the Muslim Brotherhood. The group is vital to the global radical Islamist movement, yet so little understood by Washington elites that it deserves its own set of hearings.

4. The primary sources of radical Islamist funding, especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iran.

5. The Arab countries—including Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria—that have successfully contained and minimized radical Islamists. We must learn how this was accomplished and what aspects should be replicated.

6. Radicalization in mosques and on social media. How are young Muslims being drawn into terrorism? What can be done to counter a seductive message that has reached deep into Europe and the U.S. and inspired jihadists by the thousands to travel to the Middle East for terrorist training that can be exported back home?

7. The Islamist cyberthreat...

OK, I looked up the 14th century crusades which were considered to be minor battles. The battle of Nicopolis in 1396 is the one I meant to refer to. Many European noblemen lost their heads to the Turkish because they lost the battle. Some of them were my known ancestors - and I think they are also ancestors to everyone on this freeper board.

Crusades give Muslims an excuse.

Islam is not compatible with freedom and should be eradicated if their leaders can not find a way to teach their followers to leave us infidels alone.

The only reason this country is losing to Radical Islam is because I (or others like me) have not been elected to important positions or have been able to take over. No ifs, ands or buts, swift action would be taken.

Apparently, God doesn't want that to happen yet, or, if at all for our sins.

We don't have the stomach for the repressive tactics they use.

Currently, the West is more than capable of winning. The problem is that Political Correctness and Liberal policies are holding us back. The fact that we are allowing ourselves to be colonized doesn’t help.

Things are worse under Obama, than Bush. Unfortunately, Bush facilitated a lot of this foolishness.

Yup, we don’t have the stomach to do what is necessary. It really does not help that our own Media is not sure what side it’s on.

simply say that Islam is incompatible with them and there is simply no place for it in our society.

Luckily, I have seen Star Trek, and know that there is no long-term future for Islam.

Obama is a ringer - a stealth moslem chipping away at Christendom. Too bad he is too suave to stop.

   We’re not losing.

I think of it as a drag race between a stock pinto and a funny car.

The pinto just got the green light first.
I think it is more like cancer, where you feel like you are winning, but the cancer is slowly spreading throughout your body. If you do nothing, one day the cancer will hit an organ and you'll die. So better to cut it out now, even though you feel relatively healthy.

Why We’re Losing to Radical Islam

I think most of us have a fairly good idea.

Yes, we’re indeed losing, but it never had to be this way... America loses only when it CHOOSES to do so.

Long winded for "Obama" is why we are losing. He intends to lose, for it is Islam he is supporting at every turn. Words are just misdirection.

Read the bad book everyone. It is very honest and up front.

The United States has been at war with radical Islamist terrorism for at least 35 years, starting with the November 1979 Iranian seizure...

Islam has been at war with Western civilization since 627 (attack on the Jews of Medina) or 629 (battle of Mu'tah against the Byzantines).

As for the US, the First Barbary War in 1801.

Radical Islamist terrorism has been at war with the United States at least since Nov 1979. The United States was at war with radical Islamist terrorism for a while after 9/11, until the multiculturalist fifth column undermined the war effort.

As has been said here often, fight like WWII, end like WWII. Fight like Vietnam, end like Vietnam.

Hey Newt, no need for congressional hearings, we here at FR have done the number crunching for you.

Here are the numbers. I have heard say that only about 10% of muslims are radical enough to carry out violent attacks. I will take that statement at face value.

A quick web search says that there are 1.8 Billon practitioners of the muslim faith. Simple math tells us that 10% of 1.8 billion leaves us with only 180 MILLION muslims that want to cut our infidel heads off. Well that’s not so bad, right?

Let’s put that in perspective, the US has about 2.3 million active duty, guard and reserve troops on hand.

Radical muslims outnumber the totality of our armed forces at about 78 to 1.

If you combine the militaries of Russia (2.88 million), China (3.1 million), France (400K), Germany (360K), England (240K), Japan (310K), Australia (100K), India (3.46 million) and Canada (120K), we are still vastly outnumbered. 180 million radical, crazed muslims versus 13.27 million people under arms. So we are only outnumbered 13.56 to 1.

The scariest part of these numbers is that while we still adhear to rules of engagement and the ideals of chivalry, the mohamedans strike predominatly at non-combatants. Schools, markets, places of worship, and public transportation seem to be their prefered targets.

The more I learn about islam, the more I am in agreement with a statement I first heard many years ago on this forum. All I need to know about islam, I learned on 9/11.

no WE are not losing...
THE politicians HAVE BEEN BOUGHT...
Jimmy Carter cowered in the face of IRAN
Clinton cowered in the face of Al Quda, fearing for his own life..
Obama is ONE OF THEM.... he and his family support the Muslim Brotherhood. In addition obama is a coward. He gave away all that was fought for and has aided and abetted the ENEMY... he has committed TREASON and should be IMEPACHED.......
WHY DO WE LET ANY ADDITIONAL MUSLIMS IN THE COUNTRY...
why ahve they (the house of aud) built 2500+ mosques... and according to the FBI 1700+ of them preach violent jihad and recruit jihadis.. See a mosque.. see a jihadi safe hosue, bank and recruitment center...
islam is not a religion..... it is a VIOLENT political movement.
That is all the USA has to wake up to.... no need for any studies. Get rid of the vermin...

A few other things:

We are civilized, and we still hold out some faint hope that this entire conflict cannot be resolved without massive bloodshed.

We value life, therefor we are reluctant to personally kill the enemy wholesale. We send our troops to perform limited actions, but we limit whom they target.

They don’t value life, therefor they are not reluctant to kill people wholesale and are indiscriminate in their targeting.

The reality, though, is when you pizz off people of European ancestry sufficiently for us to decide that it is time to REALLY fight wholesale, WE WIN.

Think about that Islamofacists. If you push us, YOU WILL LOSE. And there will be blood. Seas and messes of it...
