CORONADO, Calif. (AP) Republican presidential prospect Ben Carson on Thursday compared the Islamic State group to American patriots willing to die for freedom.

Commonly known as ISIS, the Islamic State group has been responsible for hundreds of deaths across the Middle East in recent months. What the hell ?
If he truely said this - then he is an idiot!
“willing to die for freedom.”
Islam kills other who want freedom - Colonial America wanted freedom from oppressors - like ISIS...
Someone needs to sit down and re-read “correct” history.
geez...and this guy wants to be president...the homeless guy with the announcer voice could do better!
Its the primary problem with Ben Carson. I doubt he means it but he’s always saying things that he needs to walk back.
Dr. Carson is not ready for prime time.
If you read his statement, he is likening the WILLINGNESS of our Patriots to die for what they believe in to the WILLINGNESS of the jihadis to do the same.
He clearly states that the jihadi philosophy is wrong.
His point is that Americans have lost the fire in their belly to defend the Constitution.
From the article: “They got the wrong philosophy, but they're willing to die for what they believe, while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness,” he said as Republican officials from across the country interrupted him with applause. ‘We have to change that.’”
What he said has been said many times here on FR. . .ISIS (terrorists) are willing to die for their cause, totally committed while we, the West (US) fight a weak war, we are not engaging in total war against a brutal uncivilized movement because of PC and that must change.
MSM: He is a conservative Black man, therefore, he must be destroyed.
Not a “seasoned” politician, he only needs a little more polish in his delivery.
HHS Secretary? Surgeon General of the US? Perhaps. . .
He is a smart man and has some good qualities but he is not ready for prime time. He should run for Senate or the House.
Saw bits of the speech. Yahoo took it waaay out of context. He was not drawing a comparison in any perceived similarities. He said that though the Islamic State has the wrong philosophy, unlike today’s patriots, the Islamic State is willing to die for their beliefs (no matter how wrong those beliefs are). Today’s political patriots are soft and buckle under the slightest of pressure.
Exactly. . .but heck, it’s more fun to take a headline and extract from a leftist ‘news’ organization than to find out what he actually said.

He's not smart enough to avoid saying something stupid like this. Regardless of what he meant it's still an exceedingly dumb thing for someone who wants to run for office to say.

If you’re having to explain what he meant then he’s already lost the battle.
that is drivel
you would censor what ever he says because you have a fundamentally racist view on the man
any little thing is enough to kill a friend
The Islamic State group are not fighting for freedom.
Rather, they are fighting to enslave or kill everyone who disagrees with their intent to return life to a 7th Century level — when them in control.
How many times does this have to be discussed before some of the folk on here get it. This was a hit piece from the AP that took what he said totally out of context. His basic point was that even though the Islamists are on the wrong side of the good vs. bad paradigm, they are willing to die for what they believe. This is absolutely true and if we can’t see and admit that, then there is no way in hell we will ever be able to defeat them. To scream and rant at what you think Dr. Carson said just defies all logic to me and goes a long way toward proving what some people say about FR namely, “It is a gathering of easily influenced, not very smart, knee jerk, right wing crazies interspersed with some very talentd Democrat trolls.”
