British Prime Minister David Cameron is appealing directly to some senators in the U.S. Congress to reconsider a bill that would open up the possibility of new sanctions against Iran.
"I have contacted a couple of senators this morning, and I may speak to one or two more this afternoon," Cameron said during a joint press conference with President Obama at the White House Friday. The prime minister arrived in Washington Thursday to meet with the president and his administration to discuss a range of issues.
Cameron said his calls were "not in any way... to tell the American Senate what it should or should not do." Instead, he wanted to tell the U.S. Senate that "it's the opinion of the United Kingdom that further sanctions, or further threat of sanctions, at this point won't actually help." The legislation, he said, "could actually fracture" the international coalition negotiating with Iran over its nuclear ambitions.
Mr. Obama's message for Congress on Friday: "Just hold your fire."
In the meantime, Mr. Obama said, "Why is it we would have to take actions that might jeopardize the possibility of getting a deal over the next 60 or 90 days? What is it precisely that is going to be accomplished?"

This sort of reminds me of how the US went neutral with FDR when Hitler was blowing stuff up in Europe. It’s BOHICA time.
Lets hope that when Iran sets of it’s first Bomb, Obama and Cameron are standing next to it
So when will the pope call??
We can’t interrupt the appeasement. They are almost finished with the surrender.
Stay out of our politics, idiot. You can’t even handle your own country.
Can we deport him? Isn’t it illegal for foreign nationals to “lobby” our legislators?
Seems like the purpose of new sanctions is to make sure we get into war.
Apparently the British Prime Minister doesn’t understand that U.S. Senators don’t even listen to their own constituents any longer, even when their offices are flooded with e-mails and phone calls.
U.S. Senators listen only to their leaders, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, who have the power to keep them off of committees and ruin their careers, and to special-interest lobbyists who can contribute to their re-elections.
So how does David Cameron fit into all this? What does he have to offer U.S. Senators in exchange for their support for Iran, the world’s biggest terrorist-sponsoring nation in the world, whose evil ayatollahs want to build a nuclear bomb so that they can terrorize the globe, including the U.S. and Britain?
If he called Ted Cruz, I’d love to know what Ted said to him.
Cameron faces the voters on May 7th but he doesn’t want to debate before the election unless the Green Party is included.
The real reason is that he would have to debate Nigel Farage of UKIP, who crushed the Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg in a couple of debates last year.
Netanyahu has said that Iran’s nuclear program represents an “existential threat”.
If he means it, that means Israel is doing all kinds of stuff overtly and covertly to stop Obama and Iran from cutting a deal.
I say we sanction the white house.
Wow.
The fact that a British PM has to phone US Senators shows just how worried Valerie Jarrett, I mean the White House, is about the upcoming vote.
AND how close it will be. Let’s see exactly which Democrats will stand with The Islamic Republic of Iran.
So Cameron is doing his campaign thingy with the Senate and like Obama promised.......he will take his message directly to the AMERICAN people. Insurrection at a minimum. These Republicans better grow some.
British elections May 7th is just about that 90 days Zero is talking about.
