How about getting the gubmint out of NASA and letting private companies take over space exploration? Let the market decide, not gubmint bureaucrats.

they are, of course the taxpayers are shelling out billions to Boeing and SpaceX

Terrible idea, but then NASA is in pretty bad shape so no one can fault you for thinking it was.

Well, when NASA is sticking to what it is supposed to do, the advances in Technology that come from it's efforts MORE than pay for whatever tax-payer money is spent on their efforts.
