Wouldn’t a deflated football weigh the same as an inflated football 13 psi doesn’t “weigh” 13 lbs?

Well, if they do, hoe does anyone know that any ball was slightly deflated?

What is the basis for this accusation even being leveled?

How was this determined, and by whom?

Journalists didn’t take science courses. The ball would ‘weigh’ the same, but at a different temp than what it was when inflated the pressure would be different. Colder = less pressure, warmer = more pressure, but how much is the difference? +/- A psi or so?...........

Think about it .... no football weighs 13 pounds. If it did they would have to throw it like a shot put.

In the NFL, each team brings 12 Wilson footballs to the game and uses its own. As such, the Patriots' offense uses one set of footballs and those are taken off the field when possession shifts. The Colts then bring theirs into rotation. It is not uncommon for teams to try to alter, however slightly but within the acceptable limits between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds, the ball that is most agreeable to their quarterback. So if New England was actually using an illegally inflated ball, it would only help their offense and not hurt the Colts' offense.

Wouldn’t a deflated football weigh the same as an inflated football [...]?

Is air matter? Does it have mass?
