[ I talked to a friend about this. Although he was originally opposed to the idea of genetic engineering of children, he wasnt so sure when I asked him if he would have spent $10,000 so his daughter had perfect vision (as opposed to his Mr. Magoo nearsightedness) and strong lungs (as opposed to his asthma and allergies). He wasnt so opposed upon thinking of that. Then I added the ability to run the 100 meter dash in 8 seconds... ]
The tech to do this hasn’t matured enough, we need to have computers that can simulate and entire life cycle of a lifeform then alter genes and play it out again and again in simulation in order to truly master genetic engineering.
The side TODAY they they don’t tell you about designer babies is that you have a “sift through a bunch of embryos” and then abort the ones that are messed up.
Right not the tech is like trying to build a Lamborghini when your only tools are a dump truck and a 20lb sledge hammer and the only material you can use is toothpicks....
