Earth's hottest year, and GOP doesn't get it
CNN ^ | January 16, 2015 | Rhea Suh, NRDC president & former Obama official

Posted on 01/19/2015 8:01:56 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The U.S. ocean, atmospheric and space agencies affirmed on Friday what the planet has been telling us every way it knows how: 2014 was the hottest year since record keeping began in 1880.

That means average land and sea temperatures, worldwide, have never been hotter in modern times, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (the gold standard for global climate data) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (the guys who put a man on the moon).

This isn't about whether we believe in science: It's about whether we believe the thermometer.

In fact, the 16 hottest years on record have all occurred since 1997, the new data confirm, contributing to widening deserts, rising seas, withering drought, ravaging storms, blistering heat and other climate change impacts reaching from the tiniest African village to our own backyards.

Here in the United States, Arizona, Nevada, Alaska and California all wrapped up their hottest years on record. California remains mired in the grip of a three-year drought, its worst in centuries. The Northeast is still rebuilding from Hurricane Sandy. And that was just one of the climate-related disasters that cost this country an estimated $139 billion in damages in 2012 alone....

Nonsense. Pure, unadulterated, propaganda from the “news” source that does it best. Nonsense.

I hate to call bull**** on this broad’s propaganda but I was in Arizona the entire year last year. It wasn’t even close to being the hottest year on record. She needs to get her thermometer fixed. We had a very mild summer last year.

I believe that NASA stated there is a 38% chance based on the preliminary analysis of the date that it *may* have been the warmest on record. Therefore, it would appear the author of this article “doesn’t get it.” And aren’t our emissions going down anyway due to increased efficiency? Go talk to China, Rhea.

They’ve admitted that there is a 38% chance that the numbers are nearly accurate.

“You just don’t get it ... “
This is a sure lefty tell.

My usual response is “What is it I don’t get?”
and they again beg the question, so I ask, “What evidence do you ...” and s/he says, “You just don’t get it” and I say ...

It’s something like a staring contest with a cat.

I have 20 years of daily high and low temperature records from the same location. Every month of 2014 except October was sub normal.

The grass in my “normally colder valley” is being pushed out by mosses and lichen. Aspens are appearing. Southern Pennsylvania is becoming and Alpine climate.

In fact, the 16 hottest years on record have all occurred since 1997

At some point -- probably next year -- these people will claim that the 16 hottest years on record have all occurred since 2010.

And they will be shocked when we don't believe them.

Obama was boasting of lower gas prices as he leads into his SOTU speech.

Those prices have dropped because of fracking and other methods Mr. Obama has opposed. We could’ve had a pipeline bringing in even more oil from Canada. We could’ve had offshore drilling near our coasts.

FUBO

Yes, he opposed them, and also said that more drilling / resources would not bring down the price. He also is on record wanting gas prices to increase to force people to use less gasoline - when they went up over $4.00 per gallon back in the 2008 campaign he said he would have “preferred a more gradual adjustment” - he wasn’t unhappy with the increase in the gas prices, just how fast they went up. Now he claims lower gas prices are a good thing and apparently wants to claim credit for it.

“Some of us actually have real degrees.”

When I was studying pre-med in college back in the 1970’s I realized that the only major that was easier than “education” was journalism. Those kids always had time to drink heavily and smoke lots of pot. It shows.

there was a run on blankets due to freezing cold weather this last month

nobody is gonna listen to this “global over-heating” stuff when they’re wearing four sweaters and cuddled up under an electric blanket with four regular blankets on top of that

“Since records began keeping in 1880”.
That is so dumb. Planet Earth is billions of years old, and they are going by three hundred of years of “records”.
Like a flea sitting on the ear of a stampeding elephant and saying: “Oh no, look at all the dust I’m raising! I have to do something about this!”

That's because they (his puppeteers) want to have gasoline back at $4 gallon, only this time via taxing it to smithereens so that the Leviathan gets all the profits instead of the 'evil' oil companies .......
