Great Quote from MLK
Posted on 01/20/2015 5:52:05 AM PST by jda
A great quote from Dr. Martin Luther King
TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Government; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: hatred; mlk; quote
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. I guess the poverty pimps and rioters haven't ever read that and probably don't care to.

Separation of church and state (of one’s life) issue!

My fave MLK quote is a Vietnam one about how we intervened only to deny brown people the glorious wealth and happiness of communism. Truly a patriot...

I’m not a great fan of MLK, but the poverty pimps and rioters are ... when it’s convenient.

Oh, I have quotes from him, too...calling for redistribution of wealth, calling our soldiers war criminals...all kinds of inspirational things.

"You cant talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars
Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it means that we are saying something is wrong with capitalism. There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.
"I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic. And yet I am not so opposed to capitalism that I have failed to see its relative merits
[but] today capitalism has outlived its usefulness
Our economic system is going through a radical change, and certainly this change is needed. I would certainly welcome the day to come when there will be a nationalization of industry."
"After Selma and the voting rights bill, we moved into a new era, which must be the era of revolution. We must recognize that we cant solve our problem now until there is a radical redistribution of economic and political power.

Not that I begrudge the billions but now that we have done that why are the projects still full?

MY fave MLK quote is a Vietnam one about how we intervened only to deny brown people the glorious wealth and happiness of communism. Couldn't find that exact quote. Did see a couple that half-heartedly appeared to favor socialist-democrat systems and noted that the Vietnamese had declared independence in 1945, stating some of the principles from our own declaration.

"Not that I begrudge the billions but now that we have done that why are the projects still full?" You're in favor of billions of dollars' worth of income redistribution?
Wow. Stunned here. White guilt can work some dark magic on the minds of conservatives.
