Oh oh! The Santa Barbara News-Press wrote an article where they dared to call illegal immigrants “illegal immigrants,” and that's got people mad, and even worse, they hurt some peoples' feelings!
The News-Press ran the headline "Illegals Line Up for Driver's Licenses" on Jan. 3, prompting protests and a message painted in red on the wall of the newspaper's offices. The paper used the term again last Friday in another front page story: "Driving Legal Opens Door to Illegals' Past."
News-Press officials have stuck by their choice of language, saying that describing someone living in the country illegally as an "illegal" is accurate, and compared the vandalism on their offices to the deadly attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.
But community groups have denounced the newspaper, calling for an advertising boycott.
"They have a racist perspective and they don't seem very apologetic about it," said Savanah Maya, a Santa Barbara City College student and member of People Organizing for the Defense and Equal Rights of Santa Barbara Youth.
How is the word "illegal" racist? The article does not explain. By the way, how can a group like the People Organizing for the Defense and Equal Rights of Santa Barbara Youth (POFTDAEROSBY) articulately defend their position when they can't even think of a concise name for their own organization?
"I respect their right to free speech," said City Councilwoman Cathy Murillo, who attended the pro-immigrant rally, "but they don't have to be hateful. It's like the 'N-word' for blacks."
Calling illegal immigrants illegal immigrants is like the N word for blacks?

Names...
Names
We’re getting close to running out of letters ... n-word; f-word; c-word; b-word ... now, i-word.
People arent getting it.
The Mexicans are saying the border is racist, and therefore illegal.
They are claiming a civil right to occupy the United states.
Using civil rights rhetoric is an attempt to equate themselves to blacks so they can pursue this attack.
And it is an attack. The acronym you are looking at - PODER - is the Spanish word for power.
Inscrutable.
...”Liberals changing our language for no good reason.”
Oh there’s a reason alright but it’s not a good one. It’s a nefarious one. Their bad ideas eventually turn the words associated them into “pejoratives”. The name Illegal Aliens are changed to Illegal Immigrants because the idea of allowing immigrants to cross the border is toxic, so the name associated with it becomes toxic. Liberals can’t have that, so they change the words. They’ll change them again when the new words become toxic. And again. And again.
Shakespeare said it 500 years ago: “A rose by any other name...”.
Changing the name of a thing doesn’t change the thing, despite the word games liberals play.
Well, why don’t we just go back to using a name that is really, really old? That none of the youngsters have ever heard before. Like “wetbacks.”
Community Groups = Illegal Aliens
I call them Law-Breaking Aliens.
True.
But even more.....Mexican is not a race, its a nationality.
Why don’t we just call them, “The Precious and Superior People”? And let’s pass a law that every American homeowner must hand over their home and bank account to a Superior Person? It’s getting to the point where that almost wouldn’t surprise me.
Racist? The term “illegal alien” is used in our U.S. Code (federal statutes) to describe the invaders. Immigrants have legal status upon acceptance of their applications. ‘Undocumented immigrants’ is an oxymoron in the U.S. A moron has trouble assimilating these terms.
People crying ‘racist’ should be added to a pool of substitute hostages to trade with abductors of valuable U.S. citizens.
I prefer the term CRIMINAL; they haven’t f*cked up that definition...yet
I feel the same way about illegals from Canada, Mexico, China or Nigeria. The volume from Mexico and Latin America is just so much higher. How is that racist?
Fixed that for you.
You see, to apply criminal
implies that the judicial system can/should take care of them — we know that it cannot and will not — and, as such, should be covered under the prohibitions imposed by the 5th and 6th amendments upon the government, instead of the government being obligated to use military force to settle the issue as Art 4, Sec 4 says.
Illegal Invaders.
More Captain Hyperbole. Maybe we should call them "pendejos" instead?
