The Saudis are not known for messy power struggles. Everyone in the family is kept happy by spreading the wealth and power around pretty liberally, and they know that if they aren’t united, they could lose it all.

His brother Salman is next in line, a spry young 79-year-old, with only 40 sons or so. Give him time. He’ll catch up, if he still remembers how.
