Norma Jean Freeman, 81, died at the hospital from injuries after someone entered her Martins Lane home in Madison Heights and attacked her and her son, Allen H. Freeman Jr., early Thursday morning.
A “brutal” home-invasion attack Thursday morning that left a woman dead and her son badly wounded has rocked the quiet community in Madison Heights.

First responders investigate the scene of a "brutal" home-invasion in Madison Heights early Thursday morning. The attacker's identity remains unknown.
Norma Jean Freeman, 81, died at the hospital from injuries she sustained after someone entered her home at 140 Martins Lane at about 2 a.m. Thursday and attacked her and her son, the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office said.
Allen Freeman Jr., 63, remains in critical condition at Lynchburg General Hospital. After the attack, he awoke from a period of unconsciousness and called a family member, who called 911.
The attacker’s identity remains unknown.
Amherst County Sheriff Jimmy Ayers said in a Thursday news conference it is too early to know if anything was taken in the attack.
“When you look at the victims, at the injuries, it’s horrendous,” Ayers said. “It’s a horrendous crime to take place in this community or any community.
“To be brutally attacked such as this, it’s just senseless.”

"“What has their world come to? I’ve been crying and praying every since I heard about it,” said Rebecca Stanley, another neighbor of the Freemans.
She said Allen Freeman was hardly outside the house because he was busy caring for his mother.
“I can’t imagine: what if that was my mom?” Stanley said.
The Freemans were longtime members of Madison Heights Baptist Church."

Madison Heights is about ten minutes north of me. When I heard about this incident yesterday, the news was being very close-mouthed about the method of the attack. Since we have one of those Muslim enclaves nearby where Islamists are undergoing jihadist training, I suspected a beheading.
I know one of their nephews. What a horrible crime.
It is very unusual for one person to be left alive.
I posted an article the other day on muslim enclaves around the U.S. Are you referring to Red House? Someone thought they had disbanded or had moved. What do you hear over your way?

We still have the death penalty, but it’s only used for conservative Republicans.
Actually it’s rare someone gets the death penalty and plan on a 20 year wait for it to be carried out.

I haven't heard anything about them disbanding. From everything I know, they're still in existence, and this article seems to confirm it. It references a recent segment from Fox and Friends, concerning these Muslims of America camps seeded around the U.S.
Appypappy, you say you knew one of their nephews, so I don't want to be offensive; after all, I don't know the family. But, jaded as I am from terrible news stories, I did wonder why one of them was left alive...I've heard of this before, and I know what the outcome often is.

Judging by the look of the house and the appearance of the house next door, the neighbors and/or church members couldn't have been doing much to help. Somebody needed to blow away their leaves and trim their shrubs so the house wouldn't look almost abandoned. Would have taken someone about an hour. Too late now, Christians.

Why would they be raging? I mean haven't almost all the leaders in our nation from the resident on down been doing and saying everything they can to.......................oh, never mind.
