Matt Taibbi, I will bet my life, has trouble changing a tire. And I know with the utmost certainty, has less than 3 power tools in his “loft”. Not counting the vibrating jelly kind... F-him with a cactus...

" The writer was befuddled when his fellow audience members in the “liberal-ass Jersey city movie theater” stood up and cheered after they watched Kyle make an impossibly precise hit on an evil sniper."

I call BS on this anecdote.

None in the theater when I watched it did anything closely resembling a cheer...it was a sense of relief that he finally got "payback" for his brothers and that he helped save American lives.

Saw American Sniper last night with my husband. Husband and son knew Chris Kyle so it was especially difficult to watch. That said, it has to be so disheartening for these soldiers to be overseas fighting such unimaginable evil only to come home to fighting over deflated footballs, homosexual marriage, looting and rioting over thugs being shot by cops, etc. It’s all so very sad.

That theater may have been in an ethnically distinct neighborhood. Some groups are known to yell back at the movie screen.

[Still, almost any public high school of the same size could have found dozens of people who served or have served active duty. After all, 24 percent of American males are veterans.]

At one time in American politics being a veteran was almost a prerequisite to being a candidate in either party. All modern U.S. presidents were veterans until the election of Bill Clinton.

“He spent a year abroad studying at Saint Petersburg Polytechnical University in Russia”

Interesting.

Very astute observation. I’m stealing it.
