Nothing will ever beat The Blizzard of ‘78.

Nothing.

Oddly enough it started on a Monday and snowed until Wednesday.

Those National Weather Service messages in ALL CAPS greatly annoy me. Are they still using teletype machines over there?

Useful for clearing switch points and retarders, but the smart yardmasters get every available coal hopper sent to his yard ahead of the storm, loads ‘em up with snow from his yard, then waybills them to the deep south.

I never seen more vicious winters before or since than those 3 late 70’s ice ages.

” 3 late 70’s ice ages.”

I agree. It got so bad there was no place to put the snow as you shoveled it.

Exactly. It was so bad here in Illinois and all the streets were so impassable as it was, and then they predicted another 1967 snowfall! That would of been IT!. Thank God, it never came.

DiBlasio is calling it the biggest snowstorm in the history of the universe because he was called out for doing nothing about freezing rain that paralyzed the highways last week.

Looks like i'm in the 20-23 inch prediction along the coast between Boston and Plymouth MA.

But the wind is our big problem here, as it can take down the snow covered power lines.
Winds here could reach 70 mph.-Tom

Malort. One sip for a truly unique, thoroughly unpleasant, and sadly unforgettable experience.

Snow's so WHITE. Nome sayin?

More proof of the Warren Wilhelm worldview.

Have they invented a new stupid name for this snowstorm ?

As a matter of fact they have. They are now calling this storm "Juno".

This would be a big storm here in northern Minnesota. But people here know how to deal with this sort of thing. Out East ... If it comes true, some people will die. God bless you all and stay home!!

I expect it to be the heavy, pasty snow at my house - inland away from the coast, a mile or two, it could be much lighter snow.
I see that often in local snowstorms. -Tom

Heavy as in high water content? The answer to that I think is no. The water content ratio will be between 10:1 and 15:1. That's a light fluffy snow.

But there will be plenty of it.

As a matter of fact, it was "black ice" that he failed to sound the alarm over.

...LOL!
